OP, I will answer your question.

I don't dress in a conservative manner, but I do think it's atypical for a cocktail party. If you are a bit of a kook and artsy you might make if work for a cocktail party, although I honestly think only a teen or a 65+ artist could pull it off.

Thank you. I appreciate you answering. I do not see myself ever going back to the club scene, if that's where it is appropriate. There must be something between boring and too wacky that will work, right?
