Does every mom own a North Face Jacket?

This whole thread is hilarious. North Face jackets were the "in" thing when I was in college (at a public university) 15 years ago. I guess they have staying power because they are good quality, but I could never wear one because it would feel too collegiate to me!

So your grandkids wear them now?

This thread is interesting. I moved out here from DC to Seattle, and I was shocked to see that many people (moms, dads, grandma, grandpa, college kids, just kids, etc.) wear North Face or fleece jackets of any kinds - upscale ones, not so upscale ones - for anytime, to anywhere and for any reasons. As someone said in the thread, it would feel too collegiate to me too. But after living here for a few years, I've become one of them...

I am 38, have two kids, and love my North Face short parka. I don't care if you fashionistas think it is teenybopperish, collegiate, drug dealerish, not outdoorsy enough, or low class or whatever. And SCANDAL! I also wear uggs with my jeans sometimes. Yes, lock me up in the fashion jail and throw away the key.

To the OP, when it comes to casual clothes, wear what you like and don't worry about what other people think.

AMEN. Thank you.

I have one, and yesterday in the Mazza Gallerie elevator, two women with North Face jackets walked in. Apparently, they didn't have a style issue with North Face.

My jacket is not at all teeny-bopperish. I really like it. It keeps me warm, is good protection against the wind, and yet is still lightweight.

Well then, if I were you, I'd wear one just to blend in.

Which are, in turn, for those who can't afford a car and driver.

Useful distinctions, all.

Drug Dealers in your neighborhood? I'd not worry about fashion and worry more about finding a new neighborhood.

I have absolutely no opinion on whether a North Face jacket is fashionable -- don't have one, but fully recognize that just because it's not my personal style doesn't mean anything, they seem totally functional and fine and nice -- but this is funny to me:

Is this suggesting that because some ladies shopping at Mazza Gallerie wore them, they must be stylish? If that is the point, hahaha -- is this the farce thread? (And if I missed the point, seriously, please do explain!)

I was thinking the same thing. I shop at Mazza and I'm definitely unfashionable.

absolutely not! Meaning gets lost on this forum.

I happened to be at Mazza the other day, riding an elevator to the 3rd floor. Two women walked on wearing North Face. I noticed b/c one jacket was exactly like mine. (What are the odds?)

The only reason I even added "stylish" was b/c some PPs mentioned that the jackets were "collegiate," or not as pricey as some of the "better" brands, blah blah blah. I disagree. I LIKE my North Face, and the affordable price (I got mine on sale) is a plus.

And obviously, these two women on the elevator liked their jackets.

Mazza had NOTHING to do with North Face. They could have been shopping anywhere for that matter, wearing North Face!

I'll leave my shopping venue out of the mix the next time I post.

It´s not just every mom....MANY men as well as non-moms wear them....
Since moving here a year ago my husband and I keep joking about how it´s the American uniform..

No Beauvoir moms have succumbed to this trend, thank goodness.

But quite a few of the wee ones do.
