Conference called for red flags

HATE that.

I know. Some of the most gifted math students can get really hung up on this answer explaining since they typically just "get" it.

She's never been a strong reader, but average at worst. Her writing does truly suck. Either they're really on top of things and want to help (great) or he's gonna get booted (not so great). Don't know why I'm so nervous and imagining the worst. Anyone else BTDT?

How did the meeting go? My friend just got a notice as well so I thought I'd see how yours went to see if it might be okay or if she should worry. (She's kind of freaked out right now since they changed schools to go to a center).

My kid is very similar. Very strong in math and logic. Grade level at writing. Teacher stressed at back to school night that class was filled with very bright students but students who are good at different things. Some good at math, some at reading or writing some good at math. I think your child will rise to the challenge....already seeing changes in my son.

My child is also being challenged since the pace and materials is much faster than last year. The teacher is also very organized and that is not a strong suit for DC!

OP, how did the conference go?

OP here. A lot has happened in just a week. Went to teacher meeting to discover DC received a 0% and 33% on two assessments they give out at the beginning of the year. Felt punched in the gut at first and then thought there had to be some kind of silly mistake. Teachers also told me they had to redirect him the most and that he is being defiant. Always been an active unfocused kid, but never defiant. A pleaser, happy, good friendships, etc. Anyway, this didn't add up, so I took him to be evaluated by a Neuropsych. First day was spent on academics. 95% percentile in math & logic and nothing great in language arts but still above average. His 2nd set of evaluations this coming up week will focus on attention. SIGH.

I'll keep you posted.

That is probably deliberate.

Multilingual / bilingual folks mess up with gender. Besides how does it matter?

Why do you assume OP is multi/bilingual? I didn't get that impression at all. Just that there is a serious pronoun confusion issue, which could be deliberate, as a PP noted, to stay anonymous. Whatever the reason, it's extremely annoying and makes me not take OP seriously.

I take her seriously and feel for her situation. I can't imagine someone is making this up.

He's not doing well, and he's not happy. I would give it some more time, but I would also put some thought into whether AAP is best for your child.

PP here, not OP. I'm multilingual and I know of many folks who confuse genders including my own DCs. Just curious - how do you read someone's post and determine that they are not multi/bilingual?

Your posts are confusing. PP was saying that the OP keeps switching her child's pronouns around, making us wonder if she's talking about a boy or a girl. Then you allude to the the OP being either multi or bilingual.
