Only two weeks into school and already received a conference with teacher for "seeing some red flags with DD reading and writing and would like to discuss concerns and come up with solutions." She's never been a strong reader, but average at worst. Her writing does truly suck. Either they're really on top of things and want to help (great) or he's gonna get booted (not so great). Don't know why I'm so nervous and imagining the worst. Anyone else BTDT?
How did the meeting go? My friend just got a notice as well so I thought I'd see how yours went to see if it might be okay or if she should worry. (She's kind of freaked out right now since they changed schools to go to a center).
OP here. A lot has happened in just a week. Went to teacher meeting to discover DC received a 0% and 33% on two assessments they give out at the beginning of the year. Felt punched in the gut at first and then thought there had to be some kind of silly mistake. Teachers also told me they had to redirect him the most and that he is being defiant. Always been an active unfocused kid, but never defiant. A pleaser, happy, good friendships, etc. Anyway, this didn't add up, so I took him to be evaluated by a Neuropsych. First day was spent on academics. 95% percentile in math & logic and nothing great in language arts but still above average. His 2nd set of evaluations this coming up week will focus on attention. SIGH. I'll keep you posted.
