These comments are a big part of the demoralization of women in these relationships. Done men are simply low drive or asexual and do not got in your little 1,2,3 categorization.

I think the ego damage is about equal between the genders for different reasons. Because men are supposed to be horny, it should be easier for women, and so being rejected as a woman hurts more. Because men are taught that their value as a man is closely associated with how often they have sex, being rejected is the same as being told you're not a real man.
