Not true. Lots of tech startups, education, healthcare, government, biotechnology. Epic Software has been growing for one example. A lot of development in Madison.

Some, not a lot
Salaries are low. A red neck kind of backward place. Not a lot of diversity. Very republican

...says the person who's never set foot in Madison, lol.

I'll never understand why some people try to answer questions about places they've obviously never been.

No kidding, the PP's ignorance is showing.

Are you moving away from family or moving closer towards family? That's a big consideration.
Do you make friends easily or do you tend to stick to the people you already know? That's going to influence the success of your move.
Do you hate the cold? My MIL has Raynaud's and couldn't possibly move to a cold place. Some people just hate the cold.

There are a lot more things to consider than what there is to do in Madison.

Nope. They know how to plow there.

A friend in another part of Wisconsin had the most horrific winter. Ran out of heating fuel, snowed in for days at a time, several days in a row where the weather was 20 below BEFORE windclhill.

Otherwise, I hope you like potatoes, sausages and all things noodle-y.

That's about it. Even winter can be fun. Please stop at the Brat Stop and eat some cheese curds for me.

Lake Michigan = salt and shark free

This past winter was abnormally cold for Wisconsin and many parts of the country. Yes, Wisconsin has winter but people are out and about. Cross-country skiing, small family friendly ski resorts that many people from Chicago drive up to, ice skating. Plenty of restaurants, theater, sporting events, etc to keep you busy in the winter. The other seasons are beautiful. The lakes in Madison are great. Nice day and weekend trips also. Chicago for big city getaways or Door County Wisconsin in the summer is lovely.

Yep. I'd take Lake Michigan beaches over the Delaware beaches any day of the week.
