Do you ever find yourself totally consumed by a book that it sticks with you? Too long?

I read the first one and it was ok - when did you get hooked?

I loved the first, really loved the second and can't wait for the third!

Definitely! Little Bee is the main one that comes to mind.

Also, I just read The Circle, by Dave Eggars, and I think it will stick with me, too. Very fast and fun read on the surface. But it raises some disturbing issues with haunting implications.

The Mapmaker's war. Still haunts me.

Yes! For me it was The God of Small Things. I was wrecked for weeks after finishing it. Also The Red Tent has stayed with me for years...beautiful work!

13:13 poster here. I read A Thousand splendid suns a year ago and still think about get. Then I saw The documentary Girl Rising and it affected me even more. While the book is fiction, the likelihood that similar events have occurred within the last 15 years just devastates me. I think it is a very important story that needs to be told.

I WISH the circle could have been more nuanced. I felt like it did raise issues, but with such a blunt touch that it almost negated the importance of them. It was way too black and white.

I didn't read the book but I saw the movie. It was so sad.

Never Let Me Go. I loved it, but it left me with such a feeling of sadness. I've retread it since and it had the same impact. Remains of the Day was also beautiful.
