How long did you date before you lived together? 1.5 years after he put an engagement ring on it

How long did you live together before you got married? 10 months while planning the wedding

How old were you when you got married? I was 30; he

I was pretty clear that I owned my own place and I wasn't moving just to play house.

Dated for 14 months, then got engaged; we were married 9 months later.

Waited 13 years before we had a child, so we had a very solid foundation before DS came along.

Eloped. Married 16 years now.

Life is really good for the most part. We are healthy and happy. Our kids are healthy, happy, kind and doing really well in school. We live in a great neighborhood and love our home and our neighbors. We love the kids' (public) school. We have awesome friends. We are financially secure. DH has a great, high paying job and I have a small business that is (knock on wood) thriving.

I am not naive, though, and know all of this can change on a dime. I am so incredibly grateful for my little family. I can't even describe how it feels. I just hope that we will always be this happy and healthy.

Your post is very touching to me because our lives are so similar...two years of dating, never lived together, I was 21 and he was 24, happily married for 46 years until his death earlier this year. I greatly miss my husband every day as well.
