We are between 25 and 35 for K, and were told last week they had about 3 spots left to fill for that grade and that they are (were) on #10-ish on the waitlist. So, while it's possible that they'll move about 20 spots and have some attrition, we are not holding our breath!

From what I've heard from Lee and other schools, the waitlists are barely moving. I guess people are just accepting their lottery schools as their own and moving on.

Lee's waitlists are short. I don't even think they are beyond 100 let alone 400.

Um ok, so about 2 weeks ago they had over 300 on their total wait list. over 500 families applied for 70 seats - so much for a safety.

Wrong. Their total WL for all ages was 226 after the first round. The second round results aren't out yet, even if they participated. Info here: http://www.dcpcsb.org/Parents/Available-Charter-School-Seats-and-Wait-Lists.aspx

OP here, totally agree this thread went left somewhere. I was just hoping to hang out at the playground a couple of times this summer before school starts. I like the idea of calling the school and setting up a list serv. Hopefully that will eliminate some of the nasty (unnecessary!) comments. I too hope to meet all of the nice folks.

Did this plan go anywhere? Hoping to meet some other new parents and kids before school starts.

They've set up a listserv for parents. A few parents are arranging play dates now.
