Mont. Co. Language Immersion Programs -- 2014 Lottery Results -- Anyone?

We have wait list number 24 for Sligo creek elementary's French immersion. Does anyone know what the chances are that we will get in?

We got #23 for both maryvale & college gardens last year. We ended up getting in for maryvale shortly after the school year started but turned it down since we were happy with our current kindergarten. One factor is there are 2(?) classrooms for French immersion at maryvale, and 1 classroom for chinese immersion at college gardens. We never did get into college gardens, but I called every few months to check where we were on the list.

I don't know the odds, but seems pretty good to me -- best of luck! May I ask, when did you get your letter? We are waiting to hear from Sligo Creek too, and still hadn't gotten anything as of Saturday's mail (5/3).

We are waitlisted #40 for Maryvale -- I have heard that this is not impossible to get into, although may be well into the school year. Anyone here heard of a similar situation? If someone is 'closer' on the wait list (like 25 or lower), are they able to go to orientation and get info about busing options in their neighborhood just so they can be prepared if something opens up? TIA

Do people really pull their kids out of a kindergarten mid year into a class of a new school, new teacher, new students, new language? That is cruel.

I know Maryvale has gotten into the 30s in past years, so I guess you have a chance with 40. I'm pretty sure you are not allowed to attend the orientation unless you have been admitted, though. You could always call the school and ask.

Anyone else struggling with which program to choose. We were invited to a couple.

Well we we're waitlisted 1 & 2 for College Gardens and 7 & 8 for Potomac. I have already seen someone state they may give up their seat at College Gardens. Does anyone know if a seat does become availble if they will call me or do I have to call them? Also, what's the chances of both of them getting considering they are twins?

I was the person who said they are giving up their College Gardens spot to attend Maryvale. The school will call you.

20:56 thank you for the response. Have you already declined your spot for College Gardens? Also, why did you choose Maryvale over CGES?

To PP 22:28, I declined the spot last week. The school won't make any calls until next week as the deadline to accept or decline a spot is Friday. French was my first choice as we are a West African family and its a language that will be used with extended family and friends.

Please stop saying you were invited. You got a good number in a random lottery. It's not because your snowflake is special.

The letter from MCPS actually states 'invited'. " Your child has been invited"
