No, but discrimination IS illegal. Check out his past history of discrimination, lawsuits and settlements. |
How did the tapes gets leaked? Is the mistress an ex? |
I would think so. But I guarantee you there will be a double standard. Note how much pushback I am getting making true statements about his mistress, but when it was Linda Tripp... |
People have lots of opinions, but few are taking the time to think it through.
The guy wanted to be an owner of an NBA franchise. Presumably, for the NBA to allow you to be an owner, you have to meet certain qualifications and agree to certain conditions, including not engaging in conduct, even in your free time, that reflects poorly on the NBA. Racist remarks by an NBA owner reflect adversely on the entire organization, because it fosters an impression that owners view players, who are primarily black, as inferior human beings and chattel. A lot of people wouldn't want to go to expensive NBA games if they believed owners with attitudes like this exist. If the NBA wants to invoke some clause and sue his old drunk ass off, that's A-OK. It's not the federal Government, so the First Amendment does not apply. |
So why so much love from the NAACP? |
Either way he has a morals clause in his NBA owners agreement. He blew it big time and it died to matter whether his actions are illegal or merely disgusting, or whether the NAACP is better or worse or whether you think blacks get a free pass on similar behavior. This is about the leagues ability to make money. And they aren't having it. |
Doesn't. |
I find the whole thing disgusting and equally about racism and greed - by him and the NBA. He's disgusting and sleazy for what he said, and for having a mistress while he is married, she is disgusting for being with him. The commission really had to come down hard on him or face a huge loss of revenue. What a horrible industry. |
And just think if he'd simply done right by that girl none of this would have happened... See fellas - see what happens when you f%ck with the wrong b%tch? |
what???? |
It seems weird he would have a b-ball team when he doesn't like blacks-- the nba is 76% black.
he should have bought a hockey teamm |
It is all business. I guarantee others knew what a POS this guy was but because he was bankrolling so much he was allowed to operate as usual. When it came out, they had no alternative but to ban him and make a big show of it. |
JayZ sold his ownership in the New Jersey team. To my limited knowledge, Michael Jordan is the only racial minority who HS ownership in an NBA team. |
After he was sued twice for discrimination -- once by the Justice Department for landlord issues and once for employment issues related to the team -- he started donating money and tickets to the NAACP. He is using it as a cover for his past (and apparently current) behavior. "See, I LOVE black people! I do all this stuff for the NAACP!" |
+10000 You don't shit where you live. The NBA is an entertainment product that markets itself heavily to the AA community and has a huge AA following. You don't offend your customer base that way and expect to have no consequences. What he said wasn't illegal. It was massively offensive to his primary customers, though, and to the customers of the remaining NBA franchises. For the good of the NBA brand, he has to go. |
