And your snide comment was juvenile and inappropriate for a board moderator.

I'm not sure how I feel about a moderator who uses his 'powers' to 'out' someone in such a fashion.

Protip: Posting as "anonymous" doesn't mean you're actually anonymous. If you wouldn't want it attached to your name, don't put it on the internet. Period.

I think arbitrary 'outing' based on personal bias is not someplace I would go.

I don't think that outing someone who is insensitive to the killing of a 14 year old is a "personal bias". I would hope that we all have the same bias. Please let me be right about this one.

+1

-1 The "outed yet still anonymous" poster deserved it.

Just curious and not commenting on appropriateness or inappropriateness of Jeff's comment - could it be a visitor using their smartphone and logged into that particular wifi? I mean how do we know who it is regardless of the location?

I might be wrong but I wouldn't think that the US House of Representatives would have an open, unsecured wifi connection.

If anything I hope that this tragedy gets the father and/or other members of the community to rethink/reverse the "stop snitching" message. So sad.

It won't. The people in Baltimore who made the Stop Fucking Snitching video are no strangers to being the victims of violence, but they believe in vigilante justice, not going to the police. The family probably already knows who shot the boy (even though the police don't or don't have admissible evidence to charge somebody with it) and are looking to get even. It's the tit-for-tat of the Stop Snitching culture in certain parts of Baltimore that is the cause of so much violence.

Wow, you're making a TON of assumptions here. Just stop.

Not PP, but have you ever watched one of the Stop Snitchen videos? Do you even know what it is or anything about its creator?? I am from Baltimore BTW. Those are not mere assumptions. Come back when you get a clue as to what's being discussed.

And of course it's always sad when a 14 year old is hurt or killed.

I don't know about "Good" but those video messages are repugnant. There is irony here.

The videos were by his father. Not seeing how he should suffer for the failings of his parent. Pretty sad that you felt the need to object to the word "baby." I guess losing your 14 year old son won't hurt as much as losing a child when they're an infant.

I see pp's pov. I am sure for the parents or any parent, a baby or 30y old, is still losing a child and that is unthinkable. For the rest of the community however, there is a huge difference between a teen or older child and an infant being shot.

I don't know why, but there is something about babies and young children that any crime committed against them is just so mind blowing. I have the same reaction when I read somewhere that some perv raped an infant or toddler or young child v. a teen or adult. They are all horrifying , but when it is against the very young is even more so.

Anyway, I am sorry this happened to this boy and very sorry for his parent's grief.

This is one of the most offensive things I've read on DCUM. As the parent of a black teenage boy the notion that my "baby's" life is somehow worse less than yours, or that when kids like mine are killed or raped or hurt it's less horrifying than the same thing happening to a toddler is unspeakable.

I was a violent crime prosecutor in Baltimore for years. I have met with dozens of people over the years who are actually friends and associates of Skinny Suge and the rest of the crew responsible for that video. I'm not assuming anything.

Those videos have NOTHING to do with your assumption that this family knows who did this and that they're choosing street justice over calling the police. You sound absurd and only serve to perpetuate the myth that black people don't snitch.

OMG we just destroyed you but you won't let it go. The only person making assumptions is you. Further, why are you bringing race into this discussion? The topic is Suge and a crime against one of his family members (tragically, a child). Logically, one wonders as to the level of cooperation with the police investigation by THIS family.
Anonymous
I would imagine the creators of a video called "Stop Snitchin'" might not be the most cooperative with police.

I don't believe the pp implied race at all? Can you please explain further?

Making decisions based on emotion is not wise.

My knee-jerk reaction was along the lines of "what goes around comes around," but it wasn't a kind thing to say and I regret it.

Jeff posting the location from where you posted that comment had you peeing in your seat. I would have loved to have been your cube mate when you read Jeff's post. I'm sure all of the blood drained out of your body and you imagined a scenario where everyone with whom you work knew your true feeling about a 14 year old who's only known misstep was to have a father who is a feckless criminal. I hope you were sufficiently spooked and now realize that ANYTHING posted on the "internets" is fair game.

While you may have publicly stated that you regret the comment, I believe you only posted that because Jeff semi-outed you; not that I agree with Jeff's actions but it was a nice treat.

You are probably reading too much into this. I prefer to take her at her word and accept that she made a hasty post that she later regretted. She at least stepped and admitted the error. I'll give her credit for that.
