I don't think there is any kind of agenda, but just count the number of unlocked threads that have turned into an anonymous assault on Black people. Don't worry Jeff... I'm not interested in debating this point and I will take your advice and stop commenting and visiting DCUM as there is something pretty awful about Black people every. single. day.

You realize that this thread is a direct response to my attempt to stop anti-black posts, correct?

I get that. No dispute here. My point is that there are way too many Black vs. white threads in Off Topic that are very racist and just rooted in ignorance but they are never locked. You're right. I don't have to visit the site or comment but when an East vs. West Bank thread gets locked post haste and the Black vs. white threads are allowed to continue... one wonders.

I've reported several race baiting topics to Jeff, and they're always deleted. The key is reporting them early. Jeff doesn't have time to read every topic.

Same here. And I've also reported sexual innuendo posts that go above and beyond and belong on explicit. The race baiting posts work both ways.

Actually, I was stuck in a traffic jam trying to drive past the zoo to get home from the airport. But, you don't see me posting my tragic story about seeing crowds of black people.

It is African American family day and, somehow, that leads to violence every year, either mobs or stabbings or, this year, shootings. It would be quite useful to investigate why, instead of ignoring these facts.

Oh, I'm sure he knows. But the OP wants Jeff to take the blame for crime in DC since he moderated a forum filled with conjecture. I'm pretty sure his moderating the thread will have no impact in crime.

I, too, am puzzled by the moderator's muzzling of comments about the serious pattern of shootings and other gun violence in connection with the annual zoo event yesterday. Whether done out of an abundance of caution or political correctness, I don't know. However, to cast blame on him for future violence because of heavy-handed censorship is both wrong and frankly inflates the importance of this forum.

Except those aren't facts. Shootings and stabbings don't happen every year. In fact, it appears that in 2000 there was a shooting, in 2011 a stabbing, and the latest event which has still not been connected to the zoo.

And therein lies the issue. Some are making it sound like there are shootings every year, and that doesn't appear to be the case as noted in several posts though any shooting is bad. I think the moderator is trying to eliminate mis-communication which feeds into some posters justification who want to make this into a race=violence issue.

No one is saying the shootings didn't happen but to infer that it happens every year is, indeed, incorrect. Period.
