How do you feel about really stylish moms?

I think to have that kind of effortless style, you have to be from Paris or LA pretty much-- it's bred in your bones. Attempting to dress like that will otherwise turn you into a fashion slave and cost a lot.

That said, I've learned a lot from fashion blogs about how to dress better. Not runway chic, but not yoga pants either. It's totally possible to do that!

Love the suggestion above to clean out your closet! I did this recently. Huge difference!

I so agree!! I love when I take m favorite clothes in vacation and unpack--hang them up in closet. It is so nice to get dressed without sorting through crap or being able to find things.

My closet needs a major overhaul--I've been waiting for the warm weather to officially get here before I start since I kept having to pull back out sweaters and coats.

Could you suggest some good blogs for that? Thank you!

I think a big part is how in shape you are. Most things will look great when you are fit, even things from Target etc. It takes more effort to look fashionable 20 lbs overweight, and tends to cost more money. At least, that's been my experience, having been on both sides of the fence.

i like it. it's like eye candy for me. i can obsess over fashion magazines for hours, so to see it IRL is inspiring.

People treat you differently...trust me. And guess what, it takes me LESS time now to get ready in the morning than it did before. You know why??? Because I've gotten rid of all the ugly clothes in my closet. I cleaned it out. I only have things that go with other things (not that they all go together) and that fit me well. Everything else is out. If you are organized you can dress fashionably and get dressed in less time.

I used to sit in front of my closet, not be able to see anything, and then just grab stuff that didn't work well together to just have clothes on my body. I felt disheveled and I didn't like to feel that way. Now that my closet is more organized I can get dressed in about 5 minutes because I already know what works together. I do the same for weekend clothes now too and I can be super comfortable at the part but still be put together. Its really not that hard.

I am so happy I don't care about this. I wear what feels good and don't even think about what others think. Maybe I look good maybe I don't. It doesn't seem so important to me.

Come sit by me. Skinny jeans, boots and a scarf aren't "stylish" no matter how well they fit or how much they cost. They are just another version of the same uniform everyone else is wearing.

The most stylish woman I've ever seen in DC was pushing ninety. Every day she dressed head to toe in either baby pink or powder blue. She was fabulous. Sadly, she passed away about a year ago.

I see way too many yoga pants and fleeces to be throwing shade at skinny jeans and scarves. Plus, you don't sound too nice.

I really like www.aintnomomjeans.com for a blog to follow. I just love her style, her tips, and her humor.

oh god, really? that first mini-skirt/thigh high boots post is a god damned disaster. That pixie cut does not suit her at all ( and I freaking love pixie cuts) and everything is a post about shredded jeans and loose sweat shirts. I'm confused.

Me too. The striped mini and boots combo is baaaaaaaad.

Some of her pieces in later posts are cute.
