Hematometra after ablation anyone?

Anonymous
I'm wondering how everything worked out for the woman who had problems 8months after having an ablation. I too am having complications 8 months out... Severe lower abdominal pain for a day during the time I should be getting my "period". An ultrasound reviled a hematometra and now my doctor says hysterectomy & that scares me.

Not the PP you were referencing... but major abdominal surgery should scare you a little...HOWEVER, having had a laprascopic hysterectomy, I can tell you that it was not nearly as big a deal as I thought it would be. Not fun, but easier than childbirth recovery. Back to normal routines in 7 days. Every surgery is traumatic to your body... but then you heal and it gets WAY better than it was before. Today's hysterectomies are NOT your mother's hysterectomy.

I had an ablation 3 years ago. The first 4 or 5 months was great but as time went on, the cramping got worse, periods heavier. As like you, I am in constant pain. I am either spotting or bleeding almost all month. I may have 4 or 5 days a month that I don't. The cramping and pressure never seems to go away. I am now scheduled for a hysterectomy that will take place in less than 2 weeks. I am terribly nervous but I am honestly at the end of my rope. I am tired of feeling unwell all of the time and in constant pain.

I'm the PP just above your post. I feel pretty confident that you are going to be WAY happier in about a month. You cannot imagine how nice it is not to deal with a period ever. Good luck

New Here. I have a hematometra after ablation as well. Everything was great for like the first year or so after the ablation. Then the cramping started. I cramped for about 10 days out of the month. After finally getting in to see GYN, I was put on Norethindrone. It worked great for about 4 months but now the pain is coming back. My GYN, says this has only happen to two of patients. Did anyone else try hormone pills? Wondering if it will get better again or if I need to have hysterectomy....

First, I had a fibroid removed ablation with novasure (same procedure) in November 2015. In July 2017 I started having cramps and each month got more painful. November 2017 was the first month I felt like I was in labor and called my ob/gyn. Ultrasound showed hematometra which my dr thinks is draining and filling every month during my cycle. There's lots of scar tissue as well. I opted to try progesterone every day but on the second month it just isn't working. I've called dr back and thinking vaginal hysterectomy. I'm very nervous and stressed to be out of work for 6 weeks. I was told this was a risk but honestly, I was in pain and heavy periods before so it was worth the risk and I didn't think that would happen to me. I don't regret the ablation as it's always best to try the least invasive alternative first but I'm disappointed it didn't work.

Novasure January 2017 and having hysterectomy november 2018. Due to scar tissue trapping blood in uterus and causing horrible cramps

Why do you not want the hysterectomy, OP? I get that it's another surgery, but these symptoms are awful, and people generally do the ablation knowing that if it doesn't work, hysterectomy is the next step.

So far, my ablation (8 months ago) has been great, but I did it to avoid hysterectomy. If it doesn't work out, I'll be doing the hysterectomy.

I had the ablation done 2 years ago and developed hematometra. It is very very painful like labour pains .I was rushed to emergency and had a operation 2 months ago to drain the fluids from by womb . Unfortunately I had another operation done last week exactly the same .I am so upset that I decided to do the ablation.Dr said the fluids will continue to come back ,next option is a hysterectomy.I am so scared anyway else out there with the similar situation.

I’m new here but interestingly, I have read this thread before. I had an ablation in November 2018 and shortly after started having terrible period pains. I was sure that I have developed what this thread is discussing, but an MRI revealed Adenomyosis, which is not at all related to the ablation. Either way having a hysterectomy in two weeks....

11 years After an Ablation I had a Hysterectomy due to Post Ablation Syndrome. My uterus and fallopian tubes were full to bursting with blood clots, and ruptured ones too. as was my pelvis.

My tolerance level must have been really high, because absolutely no pain at all. They did give me relaxers and pain meds, but never felt pain. I highly recommend speaking with him. The afternoon of the surgery, after a nap, we drove to Lake Ontario and walked around all the frozen beaches a little. Definitely worth the trip! It was also covered by my insurance.

Several positive comments about Dr. Wortman in Rochester on this thread. He has now been accused of using his own sperm to impregnate a patient, whose daughter allegedly saw him as her OB/GYN.

Hello - I know this is an old old post but currently dealing with a hemotometra 15 months after my ablation. There is no way this is a random occurrence and I believe 100% it was from the ablation and am upset there were no warnings. My pain is a lot like those who described it as labor pains. No meds touch it. Has anyone considered a lawsuit or class action suit against novasure for not sharing this disclaimer?

The dr did tell me that they could open the cervix and drain things out, but I would assume the pain would end up coming back again after a few months?

How close to menopause are you? Could you have the draining and then either bc or lupron to suppress menstruation?
