+1 Say what you want about "things happening at every school", etc. but VT has had more than it's fair share.

Is it the school culture along with admissions? Kind of like how some professions seem to attract a certain personality type.

Not really. When kids kill one another at Maryland and Morgan State, it just gets less attention from the DCUMmies, particularly if black students are involved.

You may have a point there. I have never heard of any of those schools (I have been living in the US for the past 10 years) - are they as good as VT?

Is VT a good school? Never heard of it until they had the mass shooting.

Where the hell is all of this callousness coming from in these young people? I attended VA Tech in the 80's. Never in a million years would I have ever envisioned this sort of violence taking place on that campus. Ever. Tech felt like the safest place in the world when I attended that school

I recently visited VA Tech with my husband and kids. The campus still feels the same to me, the duck pond, the historic stone buildings, the drill field. The town has grown a bit but some of the establishments that I frequented as a college kid are still doing business today.

I'm just so sad that yet another tragedy has taken place at that school. It's absolutely mind boggling...why?

PP here. I have on idea?! I thought it was a great school, but maybe I am mistaking it for some other state school in VA with a similar name? I have heard often that VA has great state schools… not sure how accurate that is.

Heartbreaking.

You guys (well I think it's one of you) bashing a race that has nothing to do with this crime have serious issues.

I don't know either. I graduated more recently and it was the most idyllic college experience I could have imagined. I'm literally stumped each time I hear of another incident.

Oh please, say what you are thinking.

In the ultra right wing, white supremacist south - an Indian girl with 3.9 GPA Biology major, who was not in the partying and socializing scene (basing this on her major, GPA, and getting into med school) and who was in touch with her parents everyday. Why did she become a target? Envy and race.

The fuck is wrong with you, pp?

Why don't you say what you are thinking, too?

Every Indian and Indian American that I know believes that they are better than whites. They also believe that if something bad happens involving a white person, it "must be jealousy."

Why don't you wait to find out why one student murdered another student?

You all would have been jumping up and down if a Black person would have killed this girl. But when it comes to White person murdering some other race you will try and find all kind of excuses.

Asians are not better than whites, but whites cannot bear the achievements of the Asian kids - they will laugh about it and minimize it and are plain jealous about it. Whites think that their kids should get these accolades. I say that only white parents have 5 star ambitions for their kids, while the kids will put in 1 star effort .

Now go ahead and vilify this victim and make a case for why she deserved to be killed by a white girl.

I'm borrowing the language of another poster and calling you a racist pig.

Must be a foreign with the triple play mentality.

I will bet my 401k that this has to do with a guy. Either girl was jealous or sleeping with Samantha's boyfriend or vice versa.
