^^^If the killer and her two conspirators had been black, race would be all over this thread. Sorry, I can't buy the why are you focusing on race argument.
|
again, yes - I agree with you that there is a bias on how these things are viewed by the general public. Had it been black students, the assumption would immediately have been drug deal gone wrong, right? But I'm not sure race was a factor in the murder. It is possible, but unlikely. |
| very sad |
Agree with the bolded. If this had been 3 black kids or 3 brown kids or 3 Arab kids and the slain was a popular, good student white girl, would there be so many questions regarding the mental status of these poor black/brown/Arab kids and their destroyed bright futures? I think it's time you people are honest with yourselves. For the rest of us, your smoke and mirrors aren't working. |
Yes, this is a ridiculous assumption. I am South Asian and had a 3.9 GPA in undergrad, was active in many organizations, joined a sorority, had a very active social life, and dated regularly. It is definitely possible to balance a healthy social life with doing well in school. |
So true. Also S. Asian and had an excellent GPA and great social life. Lots of friends, really involved with student organizations including the dance team, went to plenty (maybe even too many) parties. You'll see the stereotype that many want to put on smart South Asians/Asians, they need to make themselves feel superior in some way. They can't believe we can be smart, hardworking and socially normal. Haters gonna hate. |

Race IS all over this thread. |
That was the point of the pp's post. Other posters were complaining about race being brought into the thread because the killers were white and the girl was not. As in, just because they were white and she wasn't doesn't mean it has to do with race. Race is always discussed when the killer is not white, so why not discuss it when they are? |
She is not an Indian. She was born in Russia. As far her family background, they are from Nepal not India. RIP Sam. |
That is interesting. Are her parents wealthy or highly educated? |
Very close culturally, racially, linguistically to many Indians. Probably Hindu as well. The values and morality would be also very similar to Indians. More in common with Indians than Whites - Russians or Americans - that's for sure! |
| A Nepali origin girl ..from the land of Mount. Everest and Gautama Buddha..a small country called Nepal..being killed in USA..for unknown reasons..........lets hope justice prevails.. I have full faith in US justice system.. |
| Hmm out of context but a quick geography update Nepal isn't and never was a part of India, her parents are from Nepal not India... |
Don't you just love it when people pass statements on topics they have absolutely no clue about!. Nepal and India share a lot other than a border. Same culture, both Hindu countries, were a single entity at some point of time.. We don't consider Nepal a "foreign " country |
