Disney princesses are successful because girls like princesses. Disney just happens to do them better than most others.

Princesses are not popular because of Disney. Princesses would be popular with little girls whether or not Disney even existed.

Not allowing your 3 year old to go to a friend's princess party because you want to make a statement about marketing, or hating all things sparkly and pink, or because you think pretty girls should be banned from existence is just stupid and selfish of you as a mother.

I'll never understand the mothers who push their children into something THEY want them to be, instead of nurturing their natural inclinations and interests. It's kind of sad, really.
