For godsake quit bitching and join folks who are trying to do something. STARR MUST GO. |
hi, friends. I like MCPS, too (I'm a refugee from DC). But I don't like all the testing. How do we end it, or make it voluntary? Full disclosure: one of my children has special needs and I'd just like to pull her out during testing days. that would be my protest. |
Not, everyone hates it, I don't ! |

Would you be willing to join? Or, are you just willing to sit on the sidelines and criticize? |
I would not be willing to join, because I am quite happy with MCPS, Starr, and Curriculum 2.0. But you all go right ahead and do your thing. |
I'll be your friend. We are leaving too. For private, no snazzy gym but a fabulous curriculum and embedded enrichment. MoCo DOE is an utter joke. My son's school is falling apart, there are NO textbooks, no electives (he's in MS), no sports. Just drill and kill and worksheets and handouts in lieu of real books and study guides. |
What mcps middle school has no electives and no sports? |
This is fascinating. You seem to be the only one who likes it. Why? what is it about 2.0 that you like? I am not being snarky, I am genuinely curious.....I am fairly new to MCPS. |
NP here: I like 2.0 and Starr too. FYI, Starr wants to reduce standardized testing. |
No she is not, DCUM is not a good measure. |
The answer is: make ice hockey a varsity sport. |
Col E. Brooke Lee MS GTLD program. They do actually have sports in 7th and 8th, but none in 6th. Oh, and no textbooks either. |
?? That's not a middle school, that's a program. Also, "no sports in sixth grade" is not "no sports". |
And that makes it ok?
We were told when we registered him that there were sports and electives in the school for all the students, including the GTLD kids. My kid even signed up for his first, second and third choices for electives. |
