To literally launch a mutiny, pull your kids out of school one day, and stage a sit-in outside of Starr's office. I've floated this idea in this forum before, but no one picked it up and ran with it. If people really want to get his attention, then we need to do something big. I know parents who have met with him, sent letters, attended hearings...with no results. The only way to demonstrate that a significant number of parents are unhappy is to actually demonstrate...with kids in tow. And if we could do it when they have testing scheduled, even better. |
I think that is a great idea. Hopefully it would draw media attention. |
It definitely would. |
Sounds like an awesome idea! Be sure to be completely unspecific about your complaints, too! |
The Steering Committee for the event will engage mcps families well ahead of time and secure input and feedback in the letter they submit to Starr and the media outlining our concerns regarding 2.0. |
Feel free to do it. Means my kids classroom will be smaller that day.
Thanks for the help. |
You go ahead and do that. |
OP, get down with your big, bad self.

I'm not doing it. Was merely suggesting that if folks are so irate, then they should take action. Bitching about it on dcum won't change anything. |
Run for school board and get elected. |
Ha ha. Do you understand how moco politics work? The people who run for school board do it as an easy way to start their political career. Start there, move up in the county, and if you get lucky, move onto the state assembly. Those people don't care about the schools. And the ones who actually do never win because they don't have the backing of the local machine (who see the bd of Ed seats as the beginning of the pipeline). |
Yes, you're right. There's no point in trying to do anything, because it won't work anyway. It's much better just to sit at home and complain on DCUM. |
Launching a mutiny might work. |
I like MCPS. Sorry. |
Me too. Let's be friends. |
