I would join a protest. |
Then join it. Stop wasting your time complaining, get off DCUM, and join it. |
Completely agree. I wish they would release a poll of MCPS parent satisfaction rather than starting their dumb PR blitz about how great their 2.0 curriculum is. |
Haha, my child had 12 vocabulary tests in 4th grade and 9 of the initial sheets came home with misspellings. The sheet the teacher copied for the students. By the 7th one, I went to the principal with all 7 in my hand and she shrugged, said she would talk to her. Nothing was ever said after but 2 more came back misspelled later in the year. It was a complete inside joke to a few of the moms I was friends with in the class. We had over/under bets in June. |
I have not had enough experience in the school yet to have a long complaint list but I hate the lack of class-level grouping. This simply makes no sense to me at all except as a feel-good thing. I cannot fathom how this is better. |
Don't let the door hit you in your ass. If I can ask where are you going? |
To a private school with a snazzy gym, natch. Didn't you know that's what education is all about? |
Nope. Going to Arlington. No fancy gym. Nicer/smaller/less-overwhelmed/less-politicized school district. Happy to leave what has become a total mess, and one that seems to be getting worse not better. Have you seen those kids testifying about the roof caving in at their school? The ones who bring parts of their crumbling buildings to BOE meetings? The ones who explain that they've been promised improved facilities for more than a decade, only to get crossed out of the budget anew every time it comes up. That's the MoCo I live in, and it doesn't have room for us. So we're leaving. Have a nice day. |
Get together and FIRE STARR. Push him out like they did in Stamford. He already has a foot outa the door. Just needs a concerted shove.
Otherwise, with C 2.0 and levelling schools you are guaranteed the lowest level of education in the county at every school. |
And what are you doing to accomplish this, besides posting on DCUM? |
I am so frustrated with 2.0 and with Sup. Starr and the MCPS bureaucracy. I really which there were a mechanism to get the parents' voices heard. Sure folks on here can snark about how we should do something and not just post on here, but what? We are talking about a multi-billion dollar system with a hell of a lot of power. There has to be an outside entity with the power and clout to help parents. Is there some anti common-core organization that could help organize parents? |
I'm not snarking. You hate Starr and Curriculum 2.0? Then do something about it. You're a grown-up. Figure it out. |
To 10:24 -
If a person hates paying taxes, then by your reasoning they should "do something about it." Easier said the one. 2.0 isn't going away. They've invested too much money in it. It will be here until the fourth grade guinea pigs have lower test scores in HS than their peers in other MD counties. When Howard and PG have better scores than MoCo, 2.0 will be replaced. And I guess we can send our kids to MK. |
Yes, they should. Vote. Organize. Lobby. Run for public office. It might not do anything. But you know what's not guaranteed to do anything? Sitting around and complaining on DCUM. Your choice. |
^^^guaranteed to not do anything |
