This.

Me too. I'm a govt. lawyer and value work/life balance over money.

Same here. I make less money, but I get home by 5:30 and have dinner with my kids every night and have the whole weekend with my family. Worth it to me.

Me three.

40 hrs per week/140K/lawyer

DH clocks in 40 hrs a week, but works through lunches and break, so could probably call it 45. Then he brings work home, maybe 5 hours worth during the week, plus 8-10 on the weekend. He earns 170 in a techy position. You have your deadline, you code til it's done.

I don't think 99% of government employees work greater than 40 hours a week, and even when they are at work, they are on DCUM.

I work 40 hours a week and make 175k. I don't waste much time at work though and have always been very efficient.

DH is a dentist and works 32hrs a week and will make about 350k this year.

I work 37.5 hours/week. 9:30am-5pm with a 1 hour lunch. However, I am usually in the office by 9-9:10am, 9:20 latest, and rarely take an hour for lunch. Usually just sit at my desk and eat. Nowhere to go, no extra $ to spend on going out to lunch.

You are smoking crack.

We work over 40 hours a week. easily

at work by 6:30, first class at 7:25
teach 5 classes with one planning and one period for an IRA
One planning period doesn't allow me to thoroughly grade essays or to prepare lessons for multiple levels.

so yes - more than 40 hours, as I take work home

But you're only nasty b/c you know I don't have to worry about childcare over the summer. And while I may be working my ass off each night, I'm home for my kids. no after care for us . . . And we're in a nanny share for before care.

So I'll gladly accept nasty comments b/c I know what I do is important, and I'm good at it. But more importantly, I'm not sacrificing my kids for my job.

Enjoy your "9-5" with shitty benefits! I'll be enjoying this week off with my children.
