Son in Pre-K and frustrated with DCPS organization already.

The PK is great in our experience. We are at an east of the park school that is highly regarded for PreK and so-so-regarded for compulsory grades. Overall, we are very satisfied and often very impressed.

Are you sure you're not looking at last year's?

In any case, they had it right on the first day of school and that's really not anything to complain about. You sound a little bit difficult.

I also believe OP just downloaded the wrong calendar, since she did it in July. And I also agree, OP sounds like someone who makes her own mistakes and then spins in a frenzy because "everyone else doesn't have their stuff together". Yes, that's a snap judgement, but look at her original post, with that level of huffing and puffing and the fact that NO ONE ELSE had this experience this particular school year. Definitely makes you wonder...

For the last freaking time I DID NOT DOWNLOAD THE WRONG CALENDAR. I downloaded it either in late July or early August (honestly can't remember the exact date). My child is in pre-K and I had to do that to even figure out when the school started. Yes, it's frustrating AS HELL that they couldn't get their act together until late August. WHY?

OP, you need to take a chill pill. The only thing that allegedly changed was a teacher workday swap. And it changed well within a month of the first day of school. That's not unreasonable. It's life. You are being unreasonable. Really. You are. For real. Stop it.

Actually, they changed every month Dec-June, but whatever. At this point, I'm just being adamant that minimizing this for some of us is also not helpful.

Ok. I just went and downloaded today's version and every single thing I have from August, before school started, remains. So obviously, we are looking at different calendars or one of us has our dates screwed up as to when we downloaded it. How is it even possible they changed every month, December to June? I mean, really? That's a gross exaggeration.

Are you usually that daft? Let's say they had one version in late July/early August up on their website and changed it sometime in late August, it is entirely possible (and indeed true) that they changed every month from December to June. I wish there was a way to post a file I have so you can see what I'm talking about.

I downloaded the dcps calendar to my computer on June 27.
The only thing different from the current calendar on dcps website http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/About+DCPS/Calendars/DCPS+Calendar+for+School+Year+2013-2014
is the date of a PD day in May

Pot, meet kettle... as the last post after you said this once again illustrates.

Maybe another lesson you can learn is that when you come to DCUM to complain about massive inadequacies with _______________, make sure you can back it up. It's that simple. Because if you make a big deal, and no one else sees what you see, yes, you will look like a hysterical person who can't read or download a calendar. Or, as you say, "daft".

The only one hysterical is YOU. I have backed it up. I just explained to you how this was entirely possible and you refuse to acknowledge the remote possibility that you might be wrong. They have made changes since late July/early Aug to every month Dec-June. I've been trying to find out how to attach photos from my computer so I can show you. Maybe pictures will be easier for you.

Maybe a little less wine with the calendar would help?

I wish that was the problem. I feel like having some right now.

OP - You're not alone. I also had 12/13 entered on my calendar as a PD day and was caught off-guard.

Unless of course this is you talking to yourself. In which case, if it's not because of wine, then yes you are losing your mind.

this has happened before, 2 years ago they changed a conference day, I had downloaded the calendar to iCal at the start of school and come spring I kept my kids home the day there was originally a conference day(we always do our conferences in the afternoon on a regular day), not realizing it was now a school day, no notices went out.

It's annoying whether your child is in free Pre K or kindergarten or the grade.
