Wow, that sucks.

It was ready in August.

Amen! one of the main reasons that schools in NW are better is because parents hire more aids and pay for all kinds of resources. When will DC get their act together??? We are talking about a calendar here, not rocket science.

Also, it doesn't really matter whether is was late July or early August. The calendar should have been ready. It has changed significantly (like one day each month from the version i had). To me that reeks incompetence.

Do you realize that the DCPS in upper NW have the same calendar as every single other DCPS throughout the rest of the city?

Also, I, like other PPs, downloaded the calendar in August and never had a PD day on my schedule for December. If you really want to rant about DCPS, then I suggest you find something real to complain about and stop making things up.

That can all be true AND the thing that this OP in particular is complaining about be a NON-ISSUE. None of us who downloaded at the start of the school year (end of August) have had a problem.

I simply don't see the evidence of THIS issue as a cluster-f*** at DCPS Central. There may be many other examples, but that doesn't make this complaint make sense.

Hold DCPS accountable, but do it for REAL problems, not crap like this that isn't a problem.

OP, I also downloaded in August and have the correct dates on my family calendar. I went through the whole thing and put them on the google calendar we use.

Are you sure you're not looking at last year's?

In any case, they had it right on the first day of school and that's really not anything to complain about. You sound a little bit difficult.

I also believe OP just downloaded the wrong calendar, since she did it in July. And I also agree, OP sounds like someone who makes her own mistakes and then spins in a frenzy because "everyone else doesn't have their stuff together". Yes, that's a snap judgement, but look at her original post, with that level of huffing and puffing and the fact that NO ONE ELSE had this experience this particular school year. Definitely makes you wonder...

I swear some people only come on DCUM when they need to be nasty to someone. Yes, darling, I do realize that the same calendar is for the whole district. That is PRECISELY that was so peeved that it was wrong. This is real to me as a working parent who has to do a lot of juggling when school is out. I don't begrudge them for being out, but please let me know when that's going to be so I can plan. What part of that is made up? Wait, actually, please don't bother responding.

This is a REAL problem for me. Do you even have children at DCPS?

For the last freaking time I DID NOT DOWNLOAD THE WRONG CALENDAR. I downloaded it either in late July or early August (honestly can't remember the exact date). My child is in pre-K and I had to do that to even figure out when the school started. Yes, it's frustrating AS HELL that they couldn't get their act together until late August. WHY?

OP, you need to take a chill pill. The only thing that allegedly changed was a teacher workday swap. And it changed well within a month of the first day of school. That's not unreasonable. It's life. You are being unreasonable. Really. You are. For real. Stop it.

How bad is the pre-k, do people actually use it?

Actually, they changed every month Dec-June, but whatever. At this point, I'm just being adamant that minimizing this for some of us is also not helpful.

OP here, as I stated before, pre-k program we attend is excellent. We are very happy with the school and the teacher.

Yes, 3. And I absolutely need to plan ahead for what they will do on these days as well. But the fact that planning ahead is serious simply does not mean that you being the only one who had this experience = DCPS is completely screwed up and has made, as you said, 4 calendar changes since the start of the year. Get all hyped up as much as you want, but even with all your hype, this still does not add up to a big deal. And next year you'll obviously compare what you got in July with what comes out at the end of August.

Ok. I just went and downloaded today's version and every single thing I have from August, before school started, remains. So obviously, we are looking at different calendars or one of us has our dates screwed up as to when we downloaded it. How is it even possible they changed every month, December to June? I mean, really? That's a gross exaggeration.
