I like hiking, but I have no interest in any activity that includes walking on top of horizontal ladders, over big vertical drops. This is some fucked up shit.

I'm whitw and I hike, but fuuuuuck that. |
Fuuuck what? |
I meet a lot of tennis-playing black people in my neighborhood. |
That is adventurous. |
Look up fresco adventures or similar groups, and you will found an abundance of Black folks hiking the appalachain, traveling the world, sailing, etc. In my family alone, we hike, bike, swim, sail and travel. Husband has a pole, but does very little fishing (boring). We shoot, but we only hunt at the grocery store. Now with that said, OP, you are definitely a fool. |
Why is everyone beating up on OP? Jesus, you're all a bunch of bitches. OP is relaying her personal experiences. She didn't say "no people of color" are adventurous or "all white people are adventurous." The first part of your post = helpful. The rest = unnecessary. You need to chill the fuck out. |
Heifer, you should take your own advice. OP said that white people were so adventurous, with the implications that other people were not. Perhaps your reading comprehension is off, but in the second grade, they begin to teach children how to infer what is said and not said in a text. Go back and read the original post to this thread and the inference is there. You are welcome. |
Wow, can we have a civil conversation? |
Who carries a ladder when they are hiking?? |
The sherpas at Everest usually carry, re-arrange, and lay down the ladders over icefalls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khumbu_Icefall).
The ice around mountains like Everest is constantly moving and shifting, so the ladders need to be adjusted to cover crossing points over the icefalls, as needed. I guess ladders are useful since they can be lengthened/shortened, and tied together, to accommodate the moving and changing ice. It is, however, batshit insane. |
Yeah, OP made a claim about what white people are like but she clearly followed up with a statement clarifying that her particular circle of black friends and family don't like the things she likes. She sounded a bit lonely. People need to give her a break! |
You will start seeing more of them as they are brought into the mainstream through diversity initiatives. |
Black woman here who has very little interest in outdoorsy stuff. Born and raised in the city, so didn't have much exposure. Now, I'm not interested in the least. I hate bugs and the thought of encountering wildlife is terrifying!
With that said, I know plenty of black people who love fishing, camping, etc. Not feeling you, OP. You have an "Imitation of Life" thing going on. |
