flying a state flag

Anonymous
The Maryland flag is a pretty unique flag. I'm sure I see people flying them all the time. Not sure if it's with the American flag too or not, but I don't think so. Go ahead and hang it. BTW, do you live in MD or not?

I never knew there was such controversy over flying a flag. We flew our American flag when we sold our house. I thought it looked nice. Wonder if it turned anyone off? Funny thing is a veteran bought it, so maybe it helped.

Signed,
A person who flies an American flag every day - not just on holidays.

When I loved on a house with a flag pole, I raised a flag every day. I like how they look, I like what they symbolize. Let your husband fly his flag.

Just found this flag site. They said it is fine to fly a state flag even in another state and it does not seem to require you flying the American flag also.

It seems to me that some people are way overthinking this. We fly our flag fairly regularly in the summer, not to make a statement, but because we got a really nice quality one and it looks pretty on our colonial and blowing in the wind. We, like our neighbors, also fly sports flags. No political signs in the yard though, ugly.

The fact that you are actually counting says a lot about you. You like 'experiencing other cultures' in the same way one would 'wash their hands' with a moist towelette.

If you were actually well-travelled, as opposed to being a pretender, you would know that people constantly ask those of us who have traveled "How many countries have you been to?"

Customer service, babe.

Ah. I was all about the DC flag if you were in the District. I can't say I'd be thrilled to fly a MD flag in front of my home. Colleges? Sports teams? Not that they're any classier than a MD flag. In that case, American flag, holiday flags, or nothing.

The Maryland state flag is the only flag among the 50 U.S. states to be based on English heraldry, and consists of the banner of the proprietor of the Maryland Colony, George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore.

Best 10 State Flags IMHO:

1. Maryland- see above.
2. Texas - the Lone Star, classic color scheme.
3. Hawaii - the British Union Jack in the union, and alternating red, white and blue stripes
4. New Mexico – the only U.S. flag with a Native American symbol, the sun symbol of the Zia, on it.
5. Arizona – a bit psychedelic, but cool overall
6. Ohio – the only pennant shaped flag
7. Alaska – the bid dipper and the North Star on a field of blue
8. Tennessee
9. Colorado
10. California

I forgot my favarite: strike California and add South Carolina.

The MD flag is very cool.

We live in DC now and fly that flag on "flag" holidays (except on St. Patrick's Day, when we fly an Irish flag). No US flag. Wouldn't occur to me that one needed to fly both.

Just reading your post, I've learned a lot about you.

It's not a pretty picture.

Hey, thanks for the analysis! And from what I gather, you're the kind of person who probably loves your country so much you wouldn't dare criticize it, which actually makes you a crap American. You probably also haven't travelled much nor do you like people from other countries. Nice to meet you!

Actually, I've been to 42 countries and counting. How about you?

AH, so you are the kind of person who travels to add a notch to the number of countries they have visited. Not PP but I have no idea how many countries I have visited. Really, who counts?! For me, I'd guess a couple of dozen or more.

hahahahaha! No-one has ever, in my entire life, asked me how many countries I have been to. Seriously? Who does that?
