| Our new house came equipped with a flag pole holder. DH is excited about getting a state flag to fly out front. I think it's conspicuous and makes me cringe a little. I don't know why. Should I relax and let him have this one? |
| Why not the American flag instead? |
| Confederate flag? |
| DC flag would be cool, VA not so much. We had a holder on our house, but just out the American flag up around Independence Day. I'm a little weirded out by people who hang it year round. You shouldn't love your country that much. |
Twelve years years ago this coming week, just about all of us were flying our American flags. Never forget. |
| We mix up our flags - states we are from originally, US flag, countries we lived in and care about a lot. |
Just reading your post, I've learned a lot about you. It's not a pretty picture. |

Hey, thanks for the analysis! And from what I gather, you're the kind of person who probably loves your country so much you wouldn't dare criticize it, which actually makes you a crap American. You probably also haven't travelled much nor do you like people from other countries. Nice to meet you! |
Actually, I've been to 42 countries and counting. How about you? |
And by "never forget" I can only assume you mean to write your congressperson to tell them to vote no on action in Syria since 911 was brought to you by American foreign policy. |
Nope. What I mean is that I'll never forget the loss of my friend who was on the plane that went into the Pentagon. |
| OP here. MD flag, not American flag. |

"Actually, I've been to 42 countries and counting. How about you?"
The fact that you are actually counting says a lot about you. You like 'experiencing other cultures' in the same way one would 'wash their hands' with a moist towelette. |
