Of those previously posted, my faves are (in no particular order):
Veronica Victoria Vivica/Viveca Vivien/Vivian |
How about Verizona? The female version of the precious Verizon. |
Viorica - Romanian, meaning bluebell (I think it's pronounced Vee-oh-REE-ka, but you might want to double-check this)
Viviana - Spanish version of "Vivian" Verona |
Vella is the name of a cheese company in Sonoma, California. Their dry jack cheese is the best! But as a result, I don't think it makes the best girl's name. |

For goodness sake, we are on the other side of the country. You really think the OP should give up the name she likes because you have heard of some obscure cheese maker in Northern CA? |
Vella poster here. Didn't say she shouldn't use it, just that it made me think of cheese.
I think there are other gorgeous names starting with V. But if she chooses Vella, she'll know that that's a possible association some people might have of the name. And I think the comment about being on the other side of the country is a tad parochial and unhelpful. I'm originally from the East coast and--gasp!--actually lived in California for a decade! We live in a fairly mobile society these days, so information about connotations people might have in other regions or countries can be helpful. I would similarly tell a Californian, Ms. Teeter, that naming her son Harris would cause titters in this part of the world. |
Vella again.
Since I was critical in another post, here are some of my favorites: Valentina Vanessa Vera Vida Viola Violet Virginia Vivian/Vivienne |
OP here,
I still like Vella, however I had to laugh over the cheese comment. I originally posted b/c I was having an issue with Violet made me think of a flower and Ben Affleck Viola of the instrument Verona of the city Viv, Vivienne, etc of Brangelina Virginia of the Commonwealth Veronica of the Archies Comics You get my point. I still like Vella. So when we travel to California, people will just have to think we are cheese heirs. |
Vivica |
Verizona. HAHAHAA. Am I the only one who thinks that's hysterical? |

Actually we lived in the Bay area for five years, DH grew up there, and DH has tons of relatives all over Northern CA. No one has ever heard of Vella cheese. Odd post. |
Your husband's unfortunate relatives are missing out. Get them some dry jack, pronto. Makes great holiday presents, I'm sure! http://www.vellacheese.com/pages/jack2.html

You've got a lot of beautiful suggestions here.
I know someone named Valnora. Thought I would throw that out there since I didn't see it yet. |
I know a Vellie and a Via. |
I like anything that is shortened to Viv. |
