I didn't ask why they waited 5 days to call back. To the grammar police on DCURBANMOM I apologize for the mistake in the title. Gee. I was typing quickly on phone.

Oh, please, that was NOT a typo!!

Suck it

OP here-If you are going to make fun of other people's grammar, then yours should be perfect or get off your high horse. You are both a loser and a creep.

Several different posters have commented on your little grammar problem, OP.

Work on it.

Shit like this is creepy. My son was injured in public not long ago and some creep stood there and took photos of it. Hey Freak, if that was you please delete them.

Agreed. Asians getting off a tour bus get a pass from me, though.

That is terrible. Where were you when this happened? Was it a national park?

Sometimes they can't see what I see in that situation, but you have to know my sense of humor to get it. I've never taken video, but pictures yes.

I would never come kill you in your sleep. And just because I take your picture doesn't mean I magically know your name or where you live.

Antisocial behavior makes people feel uncomfortable, PP. Responding by comically reassuring us that you'd never "come kill" us in our sleep doesn't make your behavior less antisocial. That makes it more antisocial.

To give you a little perspective, here's a somewhat similar example of antisocial behavior: I recently sat in a D.C. restaurant next to two people laughing about how one of them regularly took photos of people when they're asleep on a plane. "Funny" photos, according to him, so you know that the targets would probably be unhappy about the next step in his process: he'd post the photos to a website for the amusement of other site users.

I'm not the OP but....what is wrong with you people? Is this a hobby of yours? Tormenting people on DCUM who are just seeking advice? Find something better to do with your spare time.

Yes, OP, this is creepy behavior, but it is not illegal. The NPS person you spoke to was just humoring you. There is no expectation of privacy in public spaces and anyone can photograph you while you're out in public and post it anywhere they want. Legally.

What you should have done is to complain to the restaurant manager. They could have thrown him out if he was being a disruption on private property. But they couldn't have made him delete his video.

But a commercial airplane is public. You should have no expectation of privacy when you're in public.

Not so fast.. (doing some research) if you record sound you could be guilty of wiretaping. If you record for the purposes of embarrassing someone you could be sued in civil court (antibullying). If you do it on more than one occasion you could be guilty of stalking, Laws need refinement to deal with these issues. No one cares about the asian with the videocamera who just wants to record his vacation or the store trying to protect itself against theft. People hate the creeps. As more people have issues have issues the laws will get stricter. It's sad that we need lawsto deal with people like creep PP...because the law could become too restrictive on the other side too.

The only people who find this behavior uninstrustive are the ones who participate in it.

Meant unobtrusive above.

Yes, this. It's well-settled law. If you are in public, you can be photographed. You have no expectation of privacy.

Phone conversations are different, as there IS an expectation of privacy there, but the laws are state by state. In some states, both parties need to agree that a phone conversation can be taped, but not in others.

And in written correspondence, it's the receiver who controls the content.

PPs are missing the point. Police want to hear about suspicious behavior legal or not. That doesn't mean they'll make an arrest about the observed behavior but sometimes it's a clue to solving a different crime. You should never hesitate to phone in something that seems off to you.
