Easy dinners in bulk: college edition

How about Chili? Can be done in the crockpot or on the stove, can be ground beef, turkey, chicken or veggie. High protein, low fat (if made with lowfat meats), very easy to make, and cheap too. Plus it freezes well so can be done in big batches.

You never got recipes from your parents? You don't plan to share recipes with your kids? How sad.

But she's not sharing family recipes with him- she's doing internet research that he could do himself. Hovering, like she thinks he's too incompetent and immature to think of googling "meatloaf" or "chili" by himself. Now that's sad.

Have some faith in him. He doesn't need your help!

I just wanted to say thanks for all the great ideas. My DS made a collection of "recipes" from most of the suggestions here.

Wrong! I have a 5 year old and a 20 year old college student. She was horrified by this thread.

Food is love for some people. Making sure your kid has recipes and pallets of ingredients from Cosco isn't quite in the same league as calling your kid's professor to complain that he got an A- instead of the A he deserved.

(I ate a lot of raw tofu in college-pure protein.)

Still don't know why DS couldn't search the Net himself.

He's from the foodie generation. Why is he asking you or needing your help? He should have mastered the skills to cook gourmet meals for everybody by himself years ago. How is supposed to reciprocate and speak intelligently when his cultured friends and the ladies he is trying to impress invite him to dinner?

Really? Sounds pretty sheltered if this horrifies her.

I bet she was horrified that her mom is on DCUM.

I hate when Food/Cooking threads are sullied by harpy traffic from Recent Topics.
