Has your MCPS kid been admitted to SAES? Does SAES have much financial aid available? This school has only recently appeared on my radar screen but I guess it's too late to apply for this year. Bullis seems better for athletes, as does Landon, and I don't have an athlete. |

I would apply. Depending on which grade you are looking at, there may be spots. Plus, they haven't received the contracts yet, so the field is still open. It's definitely worth a call to the admissions office. I think that goes for all three schools. |
| And all three schools have healthy endowments, so there may be some FA left. |
Thanks! |
| Bullis - the public school you pay for - which is a lot. |
It's funny how Landon parents/kids repeat this mantra at every availability. It's funny because Landon is fighting to get kids (especially athletes) because of the improving alternatives out there (and increasingly cheaper). Meanwhile, Bullis' freshman class was the biggest in history. |
| I have no dog in this fight but just PP is of base with his comment about Bullis' large incoming freshman class. It is large because the school is expanding and is basically taking anyone. |
| Especially football and basketball players |
LOL. Hi, Landon Parent. |
| You don't have to be a Landon parent to see the obvious. The new headmaster of Bullis specifically wants to expand Bullis to be a powerhouse athletic school after many years of being a doormat similar to Good Counsel. You can deny it all you want but that's what they are pursuing. Bullis parents just seem so defensive about this especially when they are cheering the football team on. |
|
The number of Landon kids who have flunked out of Landon or were asked to leave Landon for discipline reasons always seem to end up at Bullis.
These are FACTS. Bullis will accept anyone who can pay $35K a year in tuition to finance its football program. |
| Bullis has very strong college placements for the class of 2013. Make of that what you will. |
|
Why don't you compare the college placement lists between the 2 schools over the past 4 years. One year is not a large enough sample size to make a full blown conclusion.
Bullis has always been known as the reform school for the wealthy. |
