Alas, it kind of is. I saw a kid (like 16yo) at the zoo yesterday dressed like Joey from Degrassi.

I am a tallish (5'6") thin person, but in maxi dresses I just look like a dumpling.

Unfortunately for me. ... My legs are my worst feature. Beautiful face, breasts, arms, flat tummy. So I love maxis in summer. I haven't worn shorts since I don't know when. Oh how I would love to wear short, sexy dresses and heels every day. Never gonna happen though.

I love this thread. I own two maxi dresses, but they are short- just above the knee. I can't wear long ones because I'm petite. The only issue is that I look very young, so I mostly wear them around the house.

Like a stylish mumu (spelling?). *cringe*

Mrs. Roper.

I'm tall with big boobs and broad shoulders, so I feel like many maxis make me look pregnant........so I am hoping they will be cute when I am actually visibly pregnant?

I think maxis are, by definition, long. That sounds more like a caftan to me. (Like this?) But I love wearing caftans around the house too. I convince myself I'm floating around and being chic, Mrs. Roper references be damned.

I've seen so many adorable maternity maxis lately that I'm wondering whether I could get away with wearing them when I'm not pregnant.

I call them a maxi because they are made out of jersey t-shirt material. Like these -

Okay, but those are definitely not maxi dresses. Maxis are indeed long by definition. If it's short, it's not a maxi.

Wow-they are hideous! I can't believe these are an obsession for you! They are the modern form of a 'moo-moo'.
