are kids your kid's school having babies?

"That is because pregnant Catholic girls get sent away because of "emotional problems".. lol! "

Yeah, it's really funny when incest/rape victims get pregnant.

Not sure how many have been pregnant, but at our school the girls who tend to have children are Hispanic. This is a high school. The youngest I have seen is 10th grade. I would be very shocked (and sad) to hear about an 8th grader.

The daycare at Gaithersburg High might be a preschool for the community, not for the students. My children's high school in the same part of MoCo has a child development center, used to teach students who are interested in going in to early childhood education about working with children. Anyone in the community can send their kids there.

My kids said they've only seen a few pregnant girls at their school. I have a friend who was a health tech at a middle school which had a pregnant 7th grader. Sad.

Wrong. Its for female students to drop off their babies so they can attend class.

I know a girl who got pregnant at fifteen. Her mom had her at sixteen and the granddaughter got pregnant at seventeen. Scary that people lack the sense to use birth control.

But really, you've never heard of high school girls getting pregnant?

No kids fooling around or sexting either, right? That only happens at *certain* schools.

The high school in my neighborhood has maternity uniform polo shirts. I'd say three of the four girls I see wearing them are hispanic. In general I see LOTS of 14-15-16 year old girls around who I just hope and pray are taking care of their little siblings, but I'm pretty sure I'm seeing teen mothers with more than one child.

Twenty years ago in the midwest, each class of 100 kids had about 3-4 pregnancies per class. Most during senior year, but occasionally earlier. I never saw/ heard of anyone getting pregnant before sophomore year.

That said... there was a kid in my class who got his girlfriend pregnant when he was 16 and the girlfriend was 15. They continued to live with their own parents and go to school. The baby went back and forth; my classmate was a very devoted dad, even at 16. And when they graduated (she was pregnant with their second her senior year), they moved in together and he apprenticed with a mechanic. She worked at a home daycare. Last I heard, he had bought the mechanic's shop from the previous owner and was doing very well, and she had opened her own daycare center and had a years-long waitlist. Interestingly, they stopped at the two kids. Complete family of four by the time they were 18. So... I guess score ONE for teen parents...

I didn't say that. But of the 15 girls in my DCs 8th grade class I can say with certainty that none were pregnant in middle school. I am fairly certain that none of that same group was pregnant in HS either.

When you consider you're talking about teens, I don't find it "scary" at all.

Unless you are that parents of all 15 of those girls, you really can't say you know anything with certainty. This is not exactly information parents would share with you.

Amazing how no one considers that these girls have abortions. There are pregnancies at EVERY school, EVERY single one. I went to a big three and I know of girls who became pregnant. They chose not to take it to term, is all.

Well, they do have a Child Development career path program, and some of the other schools with that program (ex. Quince Orchard) have a center which is not a daycare for student's children. People just get confused seeing little ones in the high school and assume it's a daycare for student's kids.

Grounds for dismissal. There was one upper girl school over the last 8 or so years who became pregnant and was told to leave. NCS girls know how to take care of themselves and that includes dealing with unplanned/unwanted pregnancies.

So, if the Big Three school learns that the father is also a student a the school, is he also required to leave?

Lived overseas and it was common for girls to start families at 15. Not saying it's the best for everyone, but for the most part they lived with extended families and did fine. Where's all the outrage for people having children well past age 35 when there's a higher rate of complications.

A girl in my 5th grade class (20 years ago) was sexually active. Who knows if she ever got pregnant. I say sexually active--more like molestation. She, at 11, swore up and down that he was her boyfriend, loved her, etc--he was in his 20s.
