AAP Screening File

NP. Has FFX announced whether the non-pool kids have gotten into AAP?

Decisions for ALL students come down in mid-April. Just because a child is in the pool does not guarantee AAP placement. Roughly 65% of the pool kids will get in and 55% of the parent referred kids - so being in the pool is not an AAP admittance ticket.

Furthermore, not being in the pool does not mean a student is that much less likely to make AAP, at least not in the past. Don't know if the FxAT will change that.

I don't think FCPS will consider not-in-pool kids for AAP unless somebody do the referral (parents).

Methinks you need to read the Parent Information Packet on the AAP Website. Of course the committee will not consider kids who are neither in the pool nor parent referred (although technically a teacher or non-parent could fill out the referral form, I've never heard of that happening in real life). If your kid is not in the pool and you did not submit a timely parent referral, I hope you are not holding your breath waiting for an AAP admittance letter to arrive on May 1 . . .

My point in saying that "not being in the pool does not mean a student is that much less likely to make AAP" is that a referred student has almost the same chance of making AAP as a pool kid. Yes, a parent obviously needs to do the referral, but not being in the pool is not the kiss-of-death for AAP.

Agreed. Just within pool with GBRS 10 or less, rejected. Just outside of pool with GBRS 12 or higher, accepted. My two cents.

In pool with GBRS > 10 accepted
