My AART just told me that the screening file will not be available to me until the fall when they are returned to the local schools by the central screening committee. Anyone else get the same story? I thought they were available to parents after they were sent. Assuming they have copies at the local schools? |
WHAT SCHOOL? |
Why? Does policy vary from school to school? |
Yes. It is called site-based management. |
They should be available. I would follow up. I haven't asked from my school yet, but nervous what they will say. |
The AAP website says copies are retained at the local school and are to be made available to parents at their request. it says a copy must be provided if requested. although it doesn't give timing, you'd need to at least have a copy in April or May if you wanted to appeal. |
You are entitled to it after it is submitted. Get on the fcps site and print out where it says you are and bring that to the AART's attention. This should not be a school by school issue. |
I sent an email to our AART on Friday. Will let you know when I hear back and what the reply is. |
If the AART gives you pushback, I might ask the front office. Don't they probably keep the copies somewhere there? |
I still haven't heard from the AART. I sent an email last Firday at about 11 AM. WHat should be my next step? I want the files for all of my kiddos, not just the 2nd grader, but also for the others in the upper ES grades. Advice, please!! |
I think I would give it a bit more time -- at least 2 business days, maybe more if the AART is at the school only a couple of days a week (some work at more than one school). Better to seem more patient than pushy before trying to make contact again or escalate, in my opinion. |
You know that the AART does not work on weekends? |
You're posting this at 1pm on Monday. Our principal requires us to respond by the end of the next business day, and i would guess that is typical at most schools. At the time you were posting, that hadn't happened yet. Now it's almost 7pm. Have you heard? |
I know that most teachers don't work on weekends. However, it isn't like I am asking for hard to find information. I simply asked when I could pick up and/or review the screening files. I really can't stand the snarky remarks above.
PP, No. Still haven't heard back. Of course, I won't escalate the request; unless it gets to the 1 week mark. Then I will escalate, but to whom? |
Escalate? Dial it back please.
Send another email if you haven't heard back by Wednesday. Reference your Friday email. Cc the principal. |
