Why does NoVA look like a 3rd world country if everyone is so 'rich'?

What is so special about Maryland?!?!?! Bethesda is about as characterless as it gets.

More importantly, the comparison isn't Bethesda to all of Northern Virginia. If NoVA is the Virginia suburbs of DC, let's compare NoVA broadly against the Maryland suburbs of DC. That's Montomery, Prince George's and Howard (as comparable to Loudon in terms of distance and rural but developing nature).

NOW let's compare the two in terms of attractiveness, walkability, styles of houses and commercial development.

This is an unnecessarily inflammatory thread.

+1 I lived in Russia for a year. Saw snow upon snow dumped on St. Petersburg. Never lost power.

Power outages also occur in Maryland and DC. I wonder if St Petersburg ever experienced the rapid growth as seen in the DMV or if the areas mentioned in Africa have weather oddities. Did our money fund the electrical system in that African area while we needed to replace wood poles?

Russia also has an illegal immigration problem

Note the dwellings. Meanwhile in the USA:

It's hilarious how people pay so much to live in such a shithole, then come on a forum that looks like it was made in 1995 to talk about how rich they are.

Congratulations PP, you are in the 1% for stupidity, ignorance and asshole! I'd give you a medal but unfortunately, I'm trying to decide where my next meal is going to come from for my family, since I live in one of your self described "3rd world countries." It's obvious from your post you lack of experience and knowledge ----- you have not visited ANY third world countries. You clearly need to get out more and experience life, you may actually learn something! I live in one of "your" mentioned third world places and I have yet to see children and adults alike in minimal clothing and with flies surrounding them and hungry! Further, if you think that if Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church all look like 3rd world countries, why don't you step away from your silver tea set and do something about it. Go to a shelter and help feed homeless, contribute some of your time and help children in Title 1 or DC schools instead of making stupid and ridiculous comments on an anonymous forum sitting behind a computer screen. May I ask where you live?

Sweetie, I lived in Maryland for over 30 years of my life and can honestly tell there are are shitty grocery stores in MD too! I now live in VA and the grocery stores are not what differentiate the two states. Clearly with your lack of knowledge you live in a bubble!

Dumb thread, and there's no need to put "rich" in quotations. We do have more money than you. Sorry.

I agree that DC seems like a developing country on many levels, including the level of corruption. Where in Africa?

DC has a higher aids rate than africa.
