Why does NoVA look like a 3rd world country if everyone is so 'rich'?

In what way does nova look like a third world country?

You clearly haven't been to too many third world countries.

Arlington, Alexandria, and Falls Church all look like 3rd world countries. The traffic, the run down repulsive housing, and the nasty office buildings and strip malls. It's hilarious how people pay so much to live in such a shithole, then come on a forum that looks like it was made in 1995 to talk about how rich they are.

+ 1. This post is confusing.

I saw a bloated dead goat floating down the Potomac recently, although to be fair it could have come from the dc side. I considered dragging it home to my shanty to feed my starving children, but I didn't want to tip off any outsiders that we're not as 'rich' as we let on. Good for you for figuring it out, OP!

The housing stock is pretty bad.

I wouldn't say NOVA looks like a 3rd world country by a long shot. That being said, there is certainly not much that is attractive or that seems upscale there. Driving through, I would never guess it's a place that anyone wealthy would choose to live.

It's all relative. People work in DC or Tyson's. They need to live somewhere. Traffic in the farther out burbs sucks. People value schools over housing. This makes high demand for low supply. Now people are buying $600k ramblers that would cost $80k in my Midwestern hometown.

Its not all shit When my parents visited, they commented on how nice the drive on my side street was with all the mature trees, medium sizes lots, and the new build/renovated homes. They were still shocked at how much a shitty little house costs.

Supply and demand. I think the OP is a troll, but I'll bite anyway because I can see the point. It's truly amazing how bad the housing stock is. An absolute dumpy piece of shit rambler that fetched 150,000K nto too long ago is now worth 650,000. It boggles the mind.

Looks like a 3rd world country cuz everyone here is a welfare queen. I dont mean the poor people, i mean the people who work at government contractors, lawyers, etc. People who leech off the system.

21:17 - WTF does that even mean?

OP, I can see your point. Too many strip malls and crappy brick box houses. Too much jealousy of the beautiful new houses. The people speak for themselves. I'll leave it at that.

You forgot the lobbyists.

I would say third world, but it is characterless. I think that has to do with the fact that most of it was all built out in the past fifty years. I also hate the lack of independent businesses and restaurants. It's all chains here.

But it does have it's up sides, too. Wide roads, nice schools and libraries.

This might be the dumbest thread of the day.

Yeah, if there is one thing that characterizes a third world country, it's a strip mall and brick houses????
