Will your Federal office be implementing furloughs if sequestration goes into effect?

And republicans suck.

Democrats suck for refusing to acknowledge that we have a spending problem. Checkmate.

Surely you can not put a price on national security? If we are attacked after SQ the republicans will pay a huge price.

Democrats have put a price on "national security" via attacks on the military for as long as I can remember.

FTC - no furloughs.

Up to 14 days of furloughs over the fiscal year.

HUD- probably furloughs, but they will give us 30 days notice prior to implementation.

I wanted to go part-time after my maternity leave, but my boss wouldn't let me because of the workload in my office (totally understandable). But I'm secretly hoping for a furlough.

Just for myself, I realize it will be really problematic for others. I think voluntary furloughs is a terrific first step for every agency.

Just announced - no furloughs expected at GAO.

+ the sequester was Obama's idea (which he seems to have conveniently forgotten). Not to mention that Democrats control two of the three bodies (administration, Senate, house) that have something to say about this. Not to mention that the Republicans gave in on the tax increases-- it's not their fault that the Administration can't admit that there is even 10 percent of federal spending that isn't absolutely necessary. Those of you who are Feds, can you seriously say that there isn't ANY unnecessary spending at your agency? Absolutely NO worthless employees?

Sure, there are worthless employees at my agency. There is also no way to fire them without a long process of documentation and performance work plans. It's not like agencies can say, "Hmm, we need to cut the budget so let's fire the least productive 10%." There are 5000 workers in my agency so even the process of figuring out who the least productive are would be a massive, time-consuming undertaking. Instead workers across the board are subject to pay freezes and furloughs and the best and brightest hightail it for the private sector. But that makes Repubs happy because they actually want an ineffective federal govt to further their political agenda. Average taxpayers are the ones who will suffer in the long run.

What ever happened to Obama's plan years ago to look at all the agencies and identify duplicative departments and programs to eliminate? Did he forget that on one of his 100s of vacations and just say to hell with it hand me a margarita?

DH works for FBI and they've already been told there will be furlough days if we go over the fiscal cliff. Anyone else?

Have an interview with them for a SA position in january. I guess it'll be moot since it seems new positions will left unfilled through 2013 the way things are shaping up.

FBI has not been told furloughs will take place. The Attorney General was very ambiguous and positive in his email. But yes the director testified months ago ALL employees would have to forlough including agents and those working National Security. It is unprecedented. And republicans suck.

Lets hope the criminals know this!

Lets be real. Republicans AND democrats suck. Neither of them is willing to compromise. They BOTH want to take their football and go home. They should all be fired and replaced with people who understand the implications the nation faces because of their ineptitude. POLITICIANS suck!

I agree, and that agenda sucks. It is the un-united states of America.

There will probably be furloughs at HUD though they are looking at contracts first. My husband is at IRS, but I'm not sure if he's been told what their situation is looking like.

Is there a reason why government does not institute across the board immidiate wage cuts instead of furloughs?

I.e. GS-whatever now is scaled to 10-15% less than what you were making before.
