How much do you pay for daycare?

Just curious. I can't tell from the web-site. Are the children predominantly special needs or handicapped? The web-site says that it accommodates any children provided the established program meets the individual needs of the children. I can't tell if they mean that it is a program designed for special needs students or if it is a program that takes all children but can accommodate special needs. It's a little out of our way, but the rates are about 2/3 what we pay and for two, an extra $1000 per month is a lot.

Hi! Heritage takes all children, but can accommodate special needs children. The therapy aspect is rather new, something the new director has implemented, I don't actually know of any special needs or handicapped children there yet.

Prices ARE so outrageous for daycare. My husband and I want a 2nd child, but we just don't know how we would afford daycare for a 2nd...it would almost be cheaper for me to quit my job and stay at home....and our daycare is way cheaper than most of the people posting on this thread!

We are at Heritage as well, and have been for about 2 years now. I'm not aware of any special needs children there as of right now, but just that they can accommodate and have made accommodations for future children that may need special attention. They made a special room for I'm assuming outside therapists from the County or family's hired to help children that need special therapy. I love that my child will possibly encounter children of all types- including special needs.

I don't agree that govt should step in and do anything about daycare, but I do agree that the expense caused us to wait to space our kids out so that we'd only be paying for one in daycare at a time! We could not have swung two daycare payments at a time. Luckily, this spacing will maybe also help us out later, with spacing college tuition payments, etc.!

We can't afford a second right now- well we could but we'd have absolutely no wiggle room which I'm just not comfortable with. So we're waiting until #1 will be a year out from kindergarten. Seems like the only way we can do it.

But they start providing food at 4-6 months. Full time 7am-6pm. 5 days a week including summer. Daycare turns to preschool at age 2(different building). After 1 year each child get 1 free vacation week/year. Lots of outside activities brought in for 16+ month olds.

This place sounds awesome. Anyone know what it is called or the name of the center?

Why do you think that?
Working people should be able to afford housing and child care and health insurance and food and transportation. Those are basic necessities, not luxuries.

Do not think you will not have to pay for day care once the kid starts school. Summer camp is expensive and so is aftercare.
After paying for child care and thinking we would have money, the after school was only a little cheaper. And in the end our money did not work out as I had planned, and in the end get by only by putting summer camp on a credit card, that I think I will be able to pay off during the year and that does not happen
