Best friend traveling to China to adopt their little boy and I need help

It's a misconception that there are no boys available for adoption from China. B/c of the "one child" policy, subsequent children born are often placed for adoption. Nowadays, there is actually a much, much longer wait for Chinese girls than boys, b/c most US (and Western) adopting parents want girls! The Chinese cannot believe this. So, if you are open to a boy, your wait will go much more quickkly than if you wnat to just specify "girl." Also, the boys waiting can have much easier special needs than the girls do!

OP, congrats to your friends! It sounds like maybe the hands and wrists could be "arthrygryposis." Do they sort of look like club feet, just with the hands and wrists? I could be absolutely wrong of course. And I know they prob have to wait until they get back to the US to see specialists and get a true diagnosis. I just know that this is one SN I've seen a # of times amongst waiting children. Your friends are so blessed to get such a lovely boy. They are in for a magical experience of a lifetime. I am getting tears in my eyes as I type this. Best of luck to them!!!!!!!!!!

OP here--thank you for this post. Yes, I get tears in my eyes when I think about it. They tried for four years on their own, and spent so much money, time, and energy. Adoption is the option they have now. And I can't imagine two better people to raise a child with SN.

I will look into arthrygryposis, just for my own education. Yes, his hands and wrists (from the pictures) look just as you describe.

First class is also impractical since they can't sit together. In business, they can get 3 in a row.
