The article in the Examiner has a link to the complaint. Brown overstated his INCOME, not the value of his home, by tens of thousands of dollars. Moreover, he falsified a document verifying that his income was tens of thousands of dollars over what is was.

Yeah, I noticed that last night when I was finally able to read the complaint myself. I was posting what I was seeing in earlier reports which were based on leaks.

Jeff - Aha, I get it now. What's funny is that from 2005-2007 when this occurred, he probably didn't even need to lie. Anyone who could fog up a mirror could get a loan for almost any amount during that time period.

What did you expect from the voting body that elected this guy and CONTINUES to elect him

If you spent as much time learning about DC politics as you do looking for pictures, you might not be so misinformed. Barry is elected only by residents of Ward 8. Barry has not run city-wide since 1994 (other than an aborted campaign in 2002 which he ended before the election). In a city-wide election, Barry could not be elected dog catcher. Blaming the entire city for Barry is like blaming the entire state of Louisiana for the fact that David Duke won a state House seat.

Why doesn't the rest of dc heard that ward into voting for a better representative? DC is obviously too silo-ed.
Why don't the rest of the states get those fools in Illinois to vote for honest politicians? The US is obviously too siloed.

DC is not the entire USA. DC's population is MUCH smaller than most major cities (Chicago, New York etc...)

Chicago Washington
Population 2,856,330 598,391
Pop. Density 12,444 9,629
Households 1,049,648 263,056
Dude, I know that. I was being sarcastic in order to make a point. How do you think it would feel to have someone from outside your ward tell you who to vote for? You may not like my councilman but I have a right as a citizen to vote for the person I want to represent me. Just like Illinoisans have the right to vote for any damn fool they want to even if it pisses Michiganders off.

FWIW, I'll be quite happy when MB passes away and Ward 8 will be free to choose a better representative. But I would never presume to tell the folks in Ward 8 for whom they should vote.

I agree. Also, when Kwame lied about his salary, his salary was public record. The bank obviously didn't do its homework, but Kwame should have expected to get caught.

Wow, the incredible sloppiness of all this is almost as disturbing as the crime itself.

Ward 8 would love outside interference in its Council race. Brilliant idea. Half the reason they elect Barry is to give us a big FU.

A big +1 to Jeff on that. 1st PP has no idea of DC culture.

Careful with those initials, a significant minority of the Council answers to them.

Oh! Good point! Sorry! To be clear, I am looking forward to the day when Marion Barry passes away, not Muriel Bowser or Michael Brown. I will feel sad about it the way I would feel about the death of an old drunk uncle of whom I was once rather fond but it will give me hope for the possibility of new leadership that may arise in the absence of Barry, who should have retired long ago.
