The saddest song of all time

Sort of like the "Taxi" song by Chapin. Two former lovers meet up in the grocery store on Christmas Eve and try to rekindle memories, realizing both have had their dreams crushed and are unbearably lonely. Yeah, good times.

In a bit of a different vein, any of you ever heard the song "Kilkelly, Ireland"? It is based on actual letters written between a father and one of his sons who left Ireland during the potato famine to find work in America. It's really lovely, but I always end up sobbing at the end.

That one makes me cry every time I hear it. Reminds me of a relative who passed away at a young age. I play it when I need to feel close to her

I always get choked up when I hear, "It Won't Be Like This For Long" by Darius Rucker. It always seems like I hear it right after I've become impatient with my kids and wished for free time for myself!

Another Auld Lang Syne makes me melancholy too.

Agree. The song is haunting on its own but that movie scene kills me.

We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun, but the joy and the fun like the seasons they have gone.

My mother used to sing that song....
