My friend in college drowned in the tidal basin. I was very sad. I listened to this song, particularly the lyrics:
"Like a clown, I put on a show. The pain is real, even if nobody knows. I'm crying inside and nobody knows it but me." |
|
This one makes me so sad- it hit me really hard since we had so many miscarriages and these parents were so blessed with a child..
John Michael Montgomery- the little girl "The Little Girl" Her parents never took the young girl to church Never spoke of His Name Never read her His Word Two non-believers walkin' lost in this world Took their baby with them, what a sad little girl Her Daddy drank all day and Mommy did drugs Never wanted to play, or give kisses and hugs She'd watch the TV, and sit there on the couch While her Mom fell asleep, and her Daddy went out And the drinking and the fighting just got worse every night Behind their couch she'd be hiding, oh what a sad little life And like it always does, the bad just got worse With every slap and every curse Until her Daddy, in a drunken rage one night Used a gun on her Mom, and then took his life And some people from the city took the girl far away To a new Mom and a new Dad Kisses and hugs everyday Her first day of Sunday school, the teacher walked in And a small little girl stared at a picture of Him She said, I know that man there on that cross I don't know His name, but I know He got off Cause He was there in my old house And held me close to His side As I hid there behind our couch The night that my parents died |
It's sappy but it makes me cry.. |

Ode to Billy Joe
(The movie was, yes, depressing.) |

Ghost, by the Indigo Girls
This bitter pill I swallow Is the silence that I keep It poisons me I can't swim free The river is too deep Though I'm baptized by your touch I am no worse than most In love with your ghost Gets me every time. |
Ah!! I love that song! Until it jumps the shark at the end with the saxophone... |

Anyone remember these:
Billy Don't be a Hero Seasons in the Sun Cheezy 1970's songs, but highly depressing nontheless. |
| Saddest by far is Clapton's Tears in Heaven. |
| I Can't Make You Love Me, by Bonnie Raitt |
| how about the coward of the county? |
That's the song in the original post! My friend swallowed pills with vodka the summer after graduating high school and they played "Carry On, Wayward Son" at his funeral. Can't listen to it to this day. |

Yes. His poor little son. |
haha. I find this song absolutely hilarious....and am glad I'm not the only person in the world who knows it exists
As for my pick, I think that recent song "Say Something" is so incredibly sad. It could be that it came out when I was struggling with a decision to stay or leave my husband, but those lyrics make me cry pretty much every time I hear it. |
