She seemed to be frustrated that I was driving only slightly over the speed limit. She eventually got around me and went literally 25 miles over the speed limit on Little Falls parkway, then the same on Mass Ave, where there are also two schools (Westland and Little Flower). I forget what kind of large SUV it was.

Let me get this straight ... She tailed you for over a mile on River Road, and then was going 25mph over the speed limit when she passed you, and yet you managed to stick with her all the way across Little Falls Parkway, and continued following her up Mass Ave! Geez, how fast were YOU going to keep up with her?!?

Holy cow you GDS people are really something. There is a light at the corner of LF and Mass so eventually I caught up with her since she had to stop. Then she took off down Mass at breakneck speed. I don't know where she sped off to after that. Somewhere very important I'm sure.

I think some people here are missing the point. If you are going to drive a car festooned with identifying stickers that indicate you have school age children who either might be in the car, their friends might be in the next car, or might themselves be driving someday it makes sense to try to drive a bit more safely.

Regardless of the school, I completely agree that the most dangerous time to drive is drop off or pick up time near any school.
We all need to reflect on how aggressive the driving is around here - and like it of not a lot of those drivers are moms in cars with kids. I was on River Rd. yesterday and had one of the most aggressive drivers behind me. Yes, she eventually passed me but it gave me pause.

This is why we live in Fairfax. We have lousy drivers, too. But not as crazy as you MOCO wackos. I really feel bad for you....and I am not being snarky.

13:44, yes, some folks may think they are way important. Others may feel the pressure from the school to keep line moving, so they are just complying.

You guys are providing a great public service. Thanks.

I think you should call your selves MARTYR D - Mothers Against Rich Tyrant Drivers

Could you please police the people at the one lane bridge at Democracy and Glen - they really need help.

No breakneck speed in NoVA, ya'll are all sitting still all the time on I66, Rts 50 or 7 and, of course, the toll road. The Greenway folks are paying to sit.

I am the OP. I am sincere. I like Norwood. If someone made an anonymous post and accused someone who looks like me, and identified my car and school sticker, I'd feel rotten if I had done it (maybe learn something?). If not, I'd say "it was not me." This behavior was outrageous, and very dangerous.

Just logged on and was shocked by the subject heading. I DO drive a black RR as described at Norwood but was not in the vicinity at the time....And while I do believe we all can learn something from it and should be reminded of careful driving behaviors, I feel somewhat bullied by this posting!

Black Range Rovers are a dime a dozen in and around Potomac/Bethesda.

Thank you, PP. I am the poster before you and actually ended up removing my Norwood sticker because of how bullied I am feeling! Yet I wasn't even the driver in question. In fact, I was at Norwood volunteering yesterday afternoon. While the OP may have had *somewhat* decent intentions of discussing safe driving, I don't think she needed to go to the length she did to describe what turns out to be a handful of us.

Just how many Norwood parents drive black Range Rovers? At least 3 so far apparently. Who knew.

This afternoon a crazy mom - shoulder length dark brown hair, driving a black Range Rover with a Norwood sticker - went careening down River Rd at 3:20ish. She appears to have been annoyed by a car that was stalled, and so leaned on her horn, and sped up, running a red light by Primary Day. Sheesh. Ease up lady! This is a downside of advertising your kid's school on the back of the car.

Show the proof. Otherwise, shut your trap, and stop spreading rumors crazy mom.

A coward --indeed. No proof, no evidence, no data. Go to the police if you can substantiate your tail.

How is this for proof: I had a 7 year old patient that it took three days to identify in the ICU. The reason: after the speeding driver ran a red light , he T-boned a family crossing the intersection in their minivan. The oldest child, 9 years old was killed instantly, the two year old stayed fastened in his 5 point cart seat in the middle of back seat, his pelvis was crushed. The third child, my patient , had severe brain damage requiring brain surgery. THree days later when his mother was finally released from the hospital and could make it to his bedside , she made the ID, based on his teeth, that this child was in fact her 7 year old and that it was her 9 year old that was actually the dead child ( too mutilated to visibly identify) . So, feel free to continue arguing about what DC or MD law entitles you to do, but I sincerely hope that you are never in an ICU at your child's bedside or live the rest of your life knowing you destroyed another family.

Did he have a Norwood sticker too?

I know you think this is a funny response but it just shows that you are a small person, with no sense of humor, hiding behind the anonymity of these boards. You have no idea what its like to lose a child in a car accident and your small mind can't even try to understand so you think its funny.

Terrible car accidents happen on River Road, deadly accidents. It so good to see how callous so many of you are towards the lives of children.
