The snark is because posting things like this here is often part of a thinly veiled attack on a particular school. People will fairly regularly come here and post things like "I saw a young person wearing a [SCHOOL] sweatshirt, and he was drunk/shoplifting/rude/etc!" The clear implication is that particular school is a bad place, and its students are jerks. Posting about bad driving follows the same pattern.

If OP is sincere and earnest, then that's fine. But many people (including me) are skeptical, because this same sort of post is often a troll trick.

While you may be right, I did not see this as an attack on Norwood at all.I saw it as a way that the person who was driving might actually recognize themselves and realize that they were not driving in a safe manner.

Maybe we are all getting a little to defensive.

I'm with the OP. I almost posted about a driver with a GDS sticker who tailgated me for about a mile one day recently (on River Rd in fact). She seemed to be frustrated that I was driving only slightly over the speed limit. She eventually got around me and went literally 25 miles over the speed limit on Little Falls parkway, then the same on Mass Ave, where there are also two schools (Westland and Little Flower). I forget what kind of large SUV it was.

So yea - why not a Whitman sticker, or OBX sticker, or the multitude of other stickers. Why not the person with a husband, 2 boys that, a girl and a dog sticker.

We know why? Why not post it on the Off-Topic thread - what does this have to do with private schools - nothing.

I pass 10 bad/rude drivers every day.

Maybe we are. But I've seen this same sort of thing get posted on the private school board several times, so I am skeptical. By contrast (as 10:04 points out), it's incredibly rare to see this sort of targeted criticism posted on Off Topic, or Montgomery County Public Schools, or any other DCUM board. So why do bad acts get reported only about private school parents & children? It's clearly not the case that only private school parents & children commit bad acts. Indeed, since there are many more parents & children NOT in private schools, you'd think there would be many MORE posts about bad acts by people with "BCC" stickers on their cars. But you never see anything like that on DCUM. So for all those reasons, I am skeptical of OP's motives.

P.S. I really think folks are being ridic in re OP. It was not an attack on Norwood or private schools. OP may be engaging in public shaming, but so what. If this post gets ten of us to reflect on our driving practices, so much the better.

Just an FYi-while you are correct about the driving of MOCO parents is not posted, there are plenty of postings about how Churchill parents are all rich and protect their kids. There was a recent posting when a parent asked a question about parking at Churchill and she was raked over the coals for asking, insinuating she was overprotective, why wasn't she riding the bus etc.

When the BCC/Whitman drinking issues came up, there also many posts about the rich parents at these schools and how they never let their kids get in trouble.

No the problem is that this can be an avenue to bully someone who did nothing..there is no proof that this even happened..could just be an angray mom who would like to attack someone. That is the problem with this sort of thing.

How can the person know they are being bullied? On an anonymous website that the person may or may not read or even recognize themselves? Why is it bullying pointing out that someone was driving badly? If the person really wanted to attack someone, wouldn't she do it in person?

Which is also ridiculous. One kids/persons/teachers actions does not define a whole community. Report it to the police and move on.

River Road has two lanes for at least a mile in both directions from the intersection with Little Falls. If someone is tailgating you, simply move out of the left lane.

Defending your GDS lot are you? Duh - how do you think she got around me, I got out of her way despite the fact that I needed to be in the left lane to turn left on Little Falls and I was going above the speed limit so not exactly crawling. She was truly a terror though - 25 mph over the speed limit is really too much on those roads in the middle of the afternoon.

Thanks for posting OP. Maybe everyone will think about being more careful near schools and in dropoff/pickup lines. Children have been injured and even killed at school pick up by moms not paying attention. This is a big concern at schools and something accreditation teams look at carefully.

Let me get this straight ... She tailed you for over a mile on River Road, and then was going 25mph over the speed limit when she passed you, and yet you managed to stick with her all the way across Little Falls Parkway, and continued following her up Mass Ave! Geez, how fast were YOU going to keep up with her?!?

I wonder if some of the vitriol here is from people worried OP's post might start a trend of calling people out for similar behavior and they know they're guilty and drive cars with similarly recognizable stickers. I live very close to a Big 3 school and I'm constantly amazed at the number of parents -- both moms and dads -- who floor it the moment they get out of the car pool lane. I know people are stressed trying to get to work or to another school, but it comes across as sheer arrogance, as if their time is more valuable than the safety of the people around them. These are narrow neighborhood streets with lots of kids walking on them and I bet the drivers would be on here ranting if I drove the way they did through their neighborhood.
