Try MV or IT.

I'm not sure I should comment on the previous statement about the racial composition at Creative Minds....but, for those who are concerned abot diversity, I would state unequivocally that the school is actually VERY diverse...both in teachers and teachers' aides (including the principal!) and in students. And the entire curriculum is international with a focus on preparing our kids to be global citizens with knowlege of the world and it's diverse cultures. Appreciation for diversity and culture is an important part of the school's mission....

Another AA mom at CM who completely agrees with the above...

I'm not at CM, but ask who cares what color the teachers or other students are. I only care about whether or not a school works for DC.

Anyone have any feedback on how Creative Minds is as a school for a child with special needs? (focusing/sensory issues and significant language delays)

I care what color the teachers or students are, and I don't think a school "works for DC" if the staff and students don't reflect that diversity.

son at CM with sensory issues, etc. The work very hard to provide an inclusive environment for sn kids. I could see room for improvements with therapy services, but when all is said and done, way better than any other option we have- other than Maddox or river school

For special needs, look at Bridges. Wonderful inclusion, experienced teachers and lots of special needs resources. Plus, they have wonderful outdoor space at the Sharpe campus (which is hopefully, their long-term home.

would you be able to elaborate? i am considering from my highly functional autistic child (mainly rigidness/flexibility). DC is 3 and reads books, somewhat late talker but catching up. i am particularly interested in CM because of their focus in arts and creativity, which my HFA child gravitates towards.

I think 12:17 and 12:53 addressed your concern.

I second Bridges as a great option for SN kids. We've had a great experience there and are happy that they have now expanded and will go through 5th grade. So happy not to have to reenter lotteries for a few years.

We got an voicemail this afternoon notifying us that we had been accepted. Does anyone know if CM is staying in their current building. When we went to the open house they still weren't 100% if they were going to expand into MV's space or move all together.

I don't know CM's plans, but they aren't expanding into the MV space.

They are most likely moving to 3700 north Capitol in Petworth
