have a boy in prek- so far pretty good. The normally organization issues for a new school- great teachers, small school, son loves it and is learning new stuff all the time.

Our DD is also in PK and we too love the school. Small class size, language lessons daily, music three days per week, small groups sessions (7 kids) for literacy and math, warm community of educated and involved parents. You usually have to pay $25-30,000 per year for this sort of teaching environment. New school, so of course there are some hiccups, but no major issues. We're thrilled to be there!

Grrr. Did not get a spot, hopefully will get a good WL number. Some friends in the same boat and our family are going to apply to Sela. It sounds like they have more than 30 spots because of the bilingual format.

Where is Sela going to be located?

Folks, I don't think the lottery is until April - so don't freak out so quickly! You have plenty of time to get your apps. into CM, don't let these DCUM freak you with old posts. Tell your friends, too! My son loves CM. I wish you all good luck getting in.

I'm happy to hear folks are happy with Creative Minds. We applied too late for current year but will definitely apply for this year. Their admissions staff wre some of the most helpful people I spoke to when we arrived in DC. And I really love their curriculum (as much as I've been exposed to it.

I'll be applying for sure in April!

Anyone know how far down their wait list they went for the current Pre-K 4 class?
Anonymous
Not sure exactly how far down, but we were #51 for PK and received the call the week before school started. So maybe into the high 50s or low 60s.

Why are the kids and teachers at CM so lily white? Is no one else troubled by the lack of diversity. Their mission sounds great, but part of the reason I live in the city is to send my kids to a diverse school...

Lily white is not an accurate description of the student body at CM.
