Any idea of the time the DCPS lottery will go live on their website?

Not sure if this is the only link, but if you scroll to the bottom of this link it says lottery results will be posted here:

They are going to go live when the offices close. Do you really think they want to spend their Friday answering the billion calls they wil receive when parents find out they did not get a spot or worse a sibling spot! I would be surprised if they come before 5pm.

I do not think the results will come up today at all, I expect to see a message at 5 that they came across unusual circumstances when processing the data and are working to resolve the issues asap .. My bet is early next week.

Per DCPS Twitter feed about an hour ago:

"The DCPS Lottery results will be announced today. We will update everyone as soon as we release the results. Thank you.

And despite the amount of times I refresh it, the picture at http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/oob is still captioned with the wrong ward. Powell is in 4, right?

Last year, the results came out at about 6pm. If you get the text alerts, they will send you one.

Yep, just searched, my alert came in at 6:21 pm last year.

I know they came out at 6PM last year - but wasn't it a day earlier than initially planned?

no, it was the correct day--just 6pm instead of 12 noon.
I actually think it's pretty understandable. It's a very complicated algorithm (thousands of kids in many different categories of priority, 6 choices each, etc). It's not a straightforward thing to program.

I was right!

But isn't that why the close the lottery two weeks before the results are announced?

The lottery closed earlier this week 2/27 or 2/28, I believe), not two weeks ago.

I absolutely agree - they closed the lottery on the 27th - the results must have been drawn by now and the only thing left would be to just upload them on the website; They's better now be running the actual random selection today and hoping to post the same day.

And to add - the selection should all be a computer generated, automated algorithm - executed by a push of a button. If they have to go in an scrub the results and do some manual manipulation, which is what it would take the additional time - I said it earlier, I then questions the integrity of the entire process.
