I hum, I moan...I am a noisy, noisy eater, when I like what I am eating. No one cares. Maybe they do, but I am too engrossed in eating to notice!

It's very cute, OP!
Mine doesn't quite hum but sometimes makes happy little noises when she eats something she really likes. I think it's cute and I also think she'll outgrow it. |
Time outs break habits. Or running stairs. Don't give her foods she likes. Spank. So many ways to end the annoying humming habit.
My ds is 13 and hums always during mealtime, especially when it's a meal he's really enjoying. Every time I mention it, it's clear he doesn't know he's doing it, no big deal I guess, but it's a bit weird!!
Omg this is a 6 year old post people
My 8 month old daughter does this too! It grew out of her saying mmmmm to something tasty and now it's a little tune. I'm a chef, and it makes me so happy she likes what I made for her. 5 starts, mommy!
64 and evry now and then ppl still tell me I hum a bit while eating.
I know this post is 6 years old, but my 6 yo son also still hums when he eats when he really likes what he's eating. We haven't been able to break him of the habit so it will be what it will be.
My DD did it as a toddler. At every meal, no matter what she was eating. She’s now 3 and no longer Huns, but she still loves food. We thought the humming was hilarious, and everyone would comment on it. I would not worry — just enjoy the cuteness while it lasts!
There is absolutely nothing cute about it.
Couldn’t resist replying to this crazy old post. My almost five year old hums periodically when she is eating dessert. I think the habit is just beginning to end. My DH and I always get a discreet chuckle over it. We don’t try to stop her. She doesn’t appear to know she is doing it.
I am a 35 year old professional women. I sometimes hum when I eat. Not a big deal and no one but my husband really notices. I go to a lot of client lunch & dinners and I bring it up as an icebreaker. Its never lost me a client and Ive come to accept it. For me I notice it usually happens when Im really hungry so I usually try to have a little something before I go to dinner. You will be fine.

Lots of toddlers do it and it’s regularly not a sign of anything wrong. My daughter did it till she was about 5. She has no ASD or dispraxia or anything like that. My family always thought it was cute, it sounds rough that yours behaved as if it was “bad behaviour” - I mean they are adults, couldn’t they control their irritation?

Sounds super cute, but I can also see how you might want to try phasing this out...
Both my kids do a loud "MM-mmmm!" when they have the first bite of something they like. Neither DH nor I do it. I think the younger learned from the older. |
My best friend does this! I’ve never said anything to her about it. I think it’s cute and quirky.
