Why do you put a "My Child is an Honor Roll Student at XXX" sticker on your car?

Yes I break cookies! Some lady gave me the sink eye the other day. Her dd saw that and was like trying to set up a playdate. I was like "what's up" and broke some more cookies.

But I'm still proud of you, Ellie. Ellie, don't cry! I know you worked hard! It's *JUST* a sticker, Ellie, in mommy's heart she's proud, does it matter if her car says she's proud?

Your kid would cry if you didn't put a bumper sticker on your car? That does not sound honorable.

1st and 2nd graders never cry, you're right.

Since when do they have an honor roll in 1st and 2nd grade? They don't even have grades, for heaven's sake.

LOL! I've wondered this too!!

Then, why bother, since we are all going to die one day?

You guys are getting crazy over nothing. If you want the sticker on your car - hell, if you want 100 stickers on your car - it is really not anyone's business. Unless they want to pay for the car, of course.

It always strikes me as funny how people (men and women) want so badly to bully here. It says a lot! Maybe look in the mirror? And not just for bald spots?

This thread prompted me to see if my DC was on honor roll last year - yes, it turns out he was all 4 quarters. Of course the honor roll rate at his school was 67% so not exactly an exclusive club. It doesn't seem to be publicized at all, the kids don't care or maybe even know about it, and I have never seen a bumper sticker proclaiming this status at our school. Maybe this practice varies a bit by school district?

PP, it varies. But the important part is that the *parents* of those who do not make it take it well. The children learn what they see! Parents wonder where their children get their bad behaviors? Really? The same people are so willing to take credit for their childrens (expected) behaviors. LMAO!

I want to get the bumper sticker that says "My Border Collie is smarter than your honor roll student"

yes it is a sticker-not every child will win at everything, may as well get used to it and not expect everyone to be equal. I don't feel bad if your child feels bad bc I have a sticker on my car. If that's the case please think about how to raise you child's self-confidence without ours having to hide theirs

Um, re-reead what I wrote. The child doesn't feel bad because she sees *OTHER* people people with stickers on their cars. The child feels bad because her own mother is too shallow to put a sticker on her car celebrating her child making the honor roll. Do you have reading comprehension issues? I was *mocking* the women who think the stickers are tacky and would never put the ghasty sticker on their cars! Your comment makes no sense in regards to what I wrote.

really? your post implies the opposite

I think those bumper stickers are fine and they show a bit of school pride/community as well. I see plenty of soccer league magnets. Wish I saw twice as many honor roll stickers.

Me, too. I hate car stickers, even double plates. But, I can't say no if my kid has a sticker for the honor roll accomplishment. That is sweet.

Really, how so??

Mommy doesn't like tacky stickers.

It's just not cool looking.

I'm so proud of you but I dont want to put a sticker on my car...

Where on earth are you reading "otherwise"? The mom is telling the child that despite making the honor roll that stickers are tacky and she will not put one on her car, and her daughter is upset over THAT....

What I wrote has NOTHING to do with the kid seeing a sticker on YOUR car.
